The fixed upper part of the tie chain is designed to hook the button of your dress shirt. When I was looking at getting this tie chain, I was afraid, judging from the price and the picture, that it wouldn't be of good quality. When I got the tie chain in the mail I was very pleased, it was a very nice tie chain for a great price, and I would recomend it.
