I always love reading books written by someone who is telling his / her experience rather than some sort of theories. And this is exactly the book! Thanks to Tim and Olive (who are still newly-wed comparing to many other authors who have written books of marriage) sharing their experience so "nakedly" for their encouragement. This is a book recommended to all who are getting married, just got married and been married for a while, e.g. over 10, 20, 30 .... years.

I found this to be a very practical and fun read. I love that it starts off with not being a 'how to' but a 'how we' book. The real-life stories and reflections were great additions that many people can relate with.

It helped me reflect on what my personality type is and what gets me going, especially when it comes to areas of communication. There are a number of principles in there that I found were fresh ideas that I would like to apply in my own life.

This is definitely a resource I give to my friends (married, dating, or single!).

I understand the premise - that you should work with your partner to see things from their perspective and not shy away from difficult conversations. But to me it was too contrived. For example, having planning days for the marriage just turned me off. Some of the outcomes were a bit too pat. This couple hasn't really been together for long, and I would really like to see how things pan out in the long term. At times I also felt that there was too much neediness. For example, why did Tim have to forego a city tour with his parents to be with his Olive in the hotel room? Surely she could have stayed there herself? It really didn't do it for me.

From following their blog ([...]), I could tell this book was something I wanted to read - I ended up reading it all in one sitting! It's easy to read, honest, and practical. Tim and Olive's writing has challenged my roommate (aka husband) and I to grow in our marriage!

Fight With Me is a great book for those pursuing a Christian marriage. As a single woman, this was a great book that prepared me about the realities of marriage and the ways marriage is used to ultimately glorify God and in pursuing holiness. I love how Tim and Olive used their story to give readers practical suggestions in facing the difficulties and challenges in marriage. I also really like how they emphasize that taking the time to communicate each other's needs and wants is so important in creating a healthy marriage. I definitely recommend this book to everyone, either single or married!

This book is refreshing. It's essential for married couples in any season of their marriage, be it their first or 50th! The authors, Tim and Olive Chan are transparent and genuine and their stories are heartfelt and encouraging. They touch on issues that are crucial for building a successful marriage: from the importance of learning how to fight to setting aside time/days to dream together. They also share how their own personal struggles and illnesses (burnout and depression) have affected their marriage. Highly recommended for any married couple!

I only spent an hour reading this book and what a delight! It was a fun and easy read. and best of all it was very real, authentic, and vulnerable - something I could relate to. I even teared up at parts (that's a good thing right?) The book was filled with anecdotes and through those stories I got to laugh, cry, and feel with them. I was left with an overall hopefulness and courage to continue to "fight" with my husband for the benefit of our marriage!

I loved the practical tips, especially in the appendix of how to have "blue days". ie. time set aside to sit down and talk through issues that otherwise sometimes get lost in the busyness of our weekly routine. Now that we've used it, I think every couple should plan to have intentional conversations like that every so often. We're still figuring out how it will look for us, but i'm so glad we've started.

I really connected to the authors when reading this book. I can imagine them as my friends and that made the book fun to read. A lot of times I found myself agreeing with them, but even when I didn't I could still understand their point of view. They made me laugh and also reflect, so it struck a balance between being fun and being informative. It was also interesting to have both points of view. A lot of relationship books only give you one side of the story, so it was refreshing to get both perspectives. Overall I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a good relationship book, whether they're seeking some insight for the next relationship or if they're looking for some relatable info for their romance now, it's a great buy.
