Christina Aguilera,
By Rebecca Ward (Sydney, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fighter (Audio CD)
This track is the one that Christina needed to produce for me to sit up and take notice of her, and she was completely successful. For anyone who has ever felt a victim, and this is not at all foreign to Christina, this song encourages you to stand up and become victorious. Amongst so much fictitious music and so many fictitious musicians, Christina has remained true to herself despite the fact that reality can be hard on the eyes. A great song and a great message. Keep it real

This Girl Is A True Fighter!,
By Busy Body (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fighter (Audio CD)
The start of 2003 was a brilliant start for Christina Aguilera. She released the ballad "Beautiful" which stormed to No.1 all over the world, including the UK. Sales of her album "Stripped" rose dramatically and people who dismissed and pigeonholed this bright young star were now transformed fans who were enjoying her music. Even the critics who had a hard time focusing on anything but her fashion sense now had to hand it to her: Christina knew how to write great lyrics and sing them with her out-of-this-world voice. The task then was to follow it up with another fantastic single. It came in the form of "Fighter," which was released in June 2003.
Fighter as an all-round song was not as good as Beautiful, because Beautiful had a stronger message of love and world stereotypes. Everyone could relate to Beautiful, which is why it was the biggest world hit of her career. Nevertheless, Fighter was a very popular follow-up on a world scale. It only just entered the US Top 20, but peaked at No.3 in the UK sales chart and was a huge success in many other European countries. Fighter starts off with a dramatic piano intro which starts off completely different to how the rest of the song will pan out. She then says, "After all you put me through, you think I despise you, but in the end, I wanna thank you cause you made me that much stronger." Then song then begins as the heavy guitar slams in and Christina sings, "Well I thought I knew you, thinkin' that you were true. Guess I, I couldn't trust, called your bluff, time is up, cause I've had enough. You were there by my side, always down for the ride but your joy ride just came down in flames cause your greed sold me out in shame." She then sings one of my personal favourite parts of the song, "After all of the stealing and cheating you probably think that I hold resentment for you, but uh uh, oh no, you're wrong. Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do, I wouldn't know just how capable I am to pull through. So I wanna say thank you. Cause..." Christina then goes on to sing the explosive chorus, "Makes me that much stronger, makes me work a little bit harder, it makes me that much wiser, so thanks for making me a fighter. Made me learn a little bit faster, made my skin a little bit thicker, makes me that much smarter, so thanks for making me a fighter." She then sings the second verse after a short while which consists of the lyrics, "Never say it coming, all of your backstabbing. Just so you could cash in on a good thing before I'd realize your game. I heard you're goin' round playin' the victim now, but don't even begin feeling I'm the one to blame cause you dug your own grave." She then sings the bridge again, before the second chorus which packs even more punch than the first. The best part of the song arrives next when Christina's vocals raise and she sings, "How could this man I thought I knew turn out to be unjust so cruel? Could only see the good in you pretended not to see the truth. You tried to hide your lies, disguise yourself through living in denial, but in the end you'll see, YOU-WON'T-STOP-ME!" Christina then sings "I am a fighter and I, I ain't goin' stop, there is no turning back. I've had enough!" She then sings the chorus a few more times and the song ends quickly as Christina's voice echoes as she sings, "Fighter!" The video to Fighter is one of my favourites of 2003. It features Christina as a caterpillar, with three other evil caterpillars who attack her. She then climbs onto a wall and turns into a beautiful butterfly before finishing the song. This was the first video where we saw Christina's jet-black hair - a style which she has still maintained as I type. I personally think her hair looks bad being all dark. If she carry's on, she'll end up like Cher! Overall, Fighter is a wonderful pop song which definitely stands out in 2003 as one of my favourite songs.

Mislabled, Great Job BMG Australia,
By BS "Tetsuhiko" (California, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fighter (Audio CD)
I have had the chance to listen to this single by Christina, so I'll spare any of you who might be buying this single. While the single itself is a good, 'Fighter' being a strong and empowering rock-influenced track, BMG Australia, has mislabled the remix of 'Beautiful' her previous single.Instead of the Valentin Club Mix of 'Beatiful' that is listed on here, the single actually contains a different remix. For non-dance sauvy people, it wouldn't make that much of a difference. So, instead of the Valentin remix, we're presented with the Brother Brown mix. Possibly the most boring mix for 'Beautiful.' The Valentin Club Mix is much more digestible for mainstream, although the Eurodance influences are strong. Despite the glitch in the single, Christina Aguilera provides us with another wonderful, and empowering track 'Fighter.' This single also includes a remix of 'Fighter' which is a good remix, although not dancey by any means. It's a different and somewhat difficult to describe. One has to hear it in order to get how it really is. Overall, the single is wonderful for fans of the song, and Christina Aguilera, for casual listeners, it would be wiser to invest your money in her full-lenght album 'Stripped.' If you're looking for the Brother Brown remix of 'Beautiful' it's here on the Australian import. However, if you're looking for the Valentin Club Mix of 'Beautiful', fortunately the UK release of the single has the correct remix.

Best Hit,

Fighter is one of the songs that uplift and impact self-determination into any individual. This wonderful hit has injected the necessary vitamins into me, and although I never actually listen to Aguilera's albums I deeply respect her trajectory. Basically this is the only worthwile song that I recommend for anybody who just needs to begin a life with toughness. I don't care If I'm black, and that I'm not suppose to listen to this music but so what it gives me strength and vitality.

This song is about people who she trusted and betrayed her [Christina Aguilera]. It's about not letting life get you down and becoming stronger. It's a great song and the girl can definitely sing!

Sorry, but after hearing Christina's, "Fighter," in early 2002, as a demo, I knew I would not like it. After many months of of anticipation for Christina's "Stripped," I realized "Fighter" became tiring after a while. The song was released, and it didn't do too hot. It reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and globally it didn't do as well as hoped. I wish "Fighter," wouldn't have been released and hopefully, she will release a song that shows her talent like, "Cruz."

A Kid's Review

she is not a singer, she is not able to write, play and read the scores/Music. She is an entertainer! The problem is: you can't stop the stupid kids for buying the celebrate pop crappy albums today. Who still recognize this maid in the next 10 years? it is the same case like britney spears and spice girls!
PS: pls throw away the cd from your window or burn it to the hot ash volcanos!!! Thank god for america's future pop artists like this one! |
