Truly a useful A to Z Handbook, January 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fighting Cancer: A Survival Guide (Paperback)
A currently common definition of a cancer survivorship states that it extends from the discovery of cancer to the balance of life. Chamberlain extends the definition to include those who don't (yet?) have cancer.
He follows with a thoroughly researched and readable discussion of cancer, conventional, alternative, and complementary therapies with a well annotated reference to resources and a bibliography for further discovery.
The author works from the premise that an informed patient has a better prognosis but also cautions that only an informed patient is properly equipped to understand options and participate meaningfully in decisions regarding treatment.
FIGHTING CANCER provides survivors and potential survivors with the means to become informed.
