1.0 out of 5 stars Warrior March 20, 2004
I have viewed this tape and having been in both combat and having been in law enforcement for over 20 years, the techniques which Mr. DeHook show in this tape DO NOT work against a determined aggressive attacker. I am especially appalled at the knife defense. Should anymore, let alone a woman attempt to defend herself against a knife attack the way it is shown, she will die. I say this as I have studied the art of knife fighting and knife defense for the past 12 years. The basic information is okay, and if someone is buying this tape for the statistics and information only, then its okay. However if anyone feels that these techniques will save them against an aggressive attacker, then they are living on a myth. Mr. DeHook may have been a police trainer, but never in teaching officers how to defend themselves. If you want to buy a tape on self-defense for women, get Mellissa Soalt's Fierce and Female. She is at least credible!

5.0 out of 5 stars All women should own this tape! April 8, 2001
By A Customer
I am a woman and have no martial arts experience. I do, however, feel secure and confident when I am out alone, shopping, or going to and from my car at night, thanks to this video. It helped me to identify the ways in which I could protect myself, if the need should ever present itself. I pray that it doesn't, but I thank Mr. DeHook for the invaluable information. Every woman should own a copy of Fighting Dirty!

If you expect how some ex-cop will shows you elbow, headbutt and knee strikes from this video don't buy it. However if you need some info from an ex-cop for your seminar that's ok you can buy it

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Buy" for Females Starting College December 21, 2001
By A Customer
I bought this for my sister who was starting college last year. Not only did this video make her more aware of the "sickos" out there, but DeHook's techniques were "do-able" and gave her the frame of mind that she could put up a nasty fight with an agressor. DeHook tells it like it is and you don't have to be a gymnist to FIGHT DIRTY!
