This game wasn't that bad at all. It's more like a new rendition of the pld CAPCOM side scroller game, FINAL FIGHT. It plays similar to that. It uses the full scale 3-D view and it has a lot more pick up items and the action is very good and it's a great team game.

The only reason I'm not really crazy about this game is because it is really long. A friend and I played this game for entire weekend once and we still weren't done with the game. It's not as long as RAMPAGE UNIVERSAL TOUR but I assure you, it was starting to feel like it after a while. At least the really cool weapons and other cool items that you could use during the game made up for it.

I'd have to say rent this one first, just to be sure you're going to be feeling it later because like I said, the game is kinda long. I still think it's fun but for gamers that are just looking for a quick fighting buzz, this might not be for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh yeah there's tons of fighting., January 25, 2003
This review is from: Fighting Force (Game Cartridge)
Basically a stress relieving game. Fighting force I would say is one of the classic games. But now rare and hard to find I would say if you do come across it try it out and if it does suit your fighting needs buy it. The only turn down is that the graphics are not the best and the game at times is repetative. But overall I would recommened it to anyone who enjoy's a quick fight.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Sloan Bishop Review, June 6, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fighting Force (Game Cartridge)
Fighting force is a fun game. You pick either Hawk, Smasher, Mace, and Alana. Your friend (one friend) can also pick someone else. These characters are apperently part of an anti-terrorist group, or something like that. You are trying to find a man named Zeng, but you have to fight hundreds of other people, male and female, in the MANY levels. If you rack up enough points at certain times you can pick which level you want to go to next. Also, after certain levels, you fight a boss, a HARD boss. There is alot to destroy in the levels, and pick up the power ups(Silver stuff is health, and so are Cokes). There are guns, knives, bottles, projectiles,(I think that's how you spell it) and explosives that you can pick up. You have fighting moves too. One move takes away life though. Certain items are too heavy for the girls an Hawk, but smasher can pick them up, examples are car engines and tires. The bad things are, it is very hard, unless you put on the immortality cheat, then it's too easy. The gameplay can become repedative, and there are only about 20 different looking enemies for both genders. Overall, this is a fun game for you and your friend (1), or for just you.

4.0 out of 5 stars N64 Beat m Up, January 12, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fighting Force (Game Cartridge)
If your a fan of Beat m ups, or a person that played this before or played maybe the playstation version you should get this game. it may be repetitive at times as all you do is beat and kill enemies and fight bosses but you do get to use weapons as well just like on Streets of Rage which i still play from time to time on my Genesis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now this is how a beat em up should be done!, November 10, 2010

Fighting Force 64 is one of the best beat-em-up's on the N64. There aren't many, but this game single handedly more than makes up for what the system lacks in this genre. There's something so old school about playing this, that when you begin the game it will fell reminiscent of Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. I think FF 64 is the spiritual successor to those games. It just puts off that vibe.

When you start the game, you can choose from 4 characters; 2 girls and 2 guys. I like to play as Smasher, the huge guy you see on the front cover of the game. His punches are legendary; They can be heard from miles away. When you begin the first stage, it really lets you know what you are in for. A couple of random guys come out of nowhere at you, and you don't know why you are killing them, but you know it must be done. You punch and kick your way through endless waves of baddies until you reach the end of each level.

One thing I like about this game is you can never get lost, it always makes sure to let you know what you are doing. Just beat everyone up, and either more will come, or you will move on to the next area of the stage. The environments are highly destructible; For example you can go up to a random Coke machine and punch it until it explodes. Or you can pummel a car until its tires fall off. You can then pick those tires up and throw them at enemies. A shotgun conveniently pops out of the trunk of the car, which you can also pick up and blast the life out of your opponents.

I like the way the game recognizes how damage is dealt. For example, I picked up a knife I found on the ground. I sliced a guy with a shirt on, and he fell back but didn't die. After I did that, a shirtless man charged me from behind. Well I quickly turned around and shanked him right in the chest, and you know what? It killed him, right then and there. The game realizes that not wearing a shirt would obviously hurt a lot more than if you had one on, strangely enough.

The game has 3 bosses, and the first two are simple. The last guy, however, is hard as hell. This is mainly because that by the time you get to him, your lives and health will be drained severely, so it will be a very big challenge for you. There are multiple paths you can take in the game, something I found interested for a game of its time. You choose your fate.

One flaw I would say is the game loses its momentum as you progress further. When you begin the game, its so awesome and great and you just love it. But as you make it to the final few stages, the enemies get harder and start blocking a lot more, and they keep on coming and coming. It can get aggravating. But nothing will top those first few levels. The 3rd stage, the elevator, is epic. You walk over to the glass box and punch it open to get the axe out, which you then use to chop your enemies up. Its very violent and bloody, but yet only escaped with a Teen rating. Well deserved, I say.

Sadly, the N64 never got the sequel to the game, but its still a blessing to have received the first one. It's a great beat-em-up, and will be looked at as a classic in years to come. This is the kind of game they don't make anymore. And it's a shame, because this game is great.
