I had the privilege and honor to have been trained in Master Kubota's Kubotan system many years ago. It was truly an education in effective technique and pain. Though my own study has been primarily in Shotokan Karate, I still sought out other Japanese and Korean systems to learn as much as I could from other masters. This excellent text goes into detail on his Gosoku Ryu (Strong and Fast) karate system. He covers the basic stances, movement, kicks, punches, strikes, and kata in this volume. Because of Kobota's wide and varied back-ground he included techniques from other combat systems when developing Gosoku Ryu.In conclusion, this is a fantastic basic guide, that when used in combination with actual hands-on training with a Gosoku Ryu instructor, will produce excellent results.
