5.0 out of 5 stars Not a big Beyonce fan, but that girl can sing some gospel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Where Are The Other Songs?
I bought this CD and am very disappointed because the songs I like the most are not on this CD. The main reason I bought this CD was to listen to the Five Blind Boys, and they are not on this CD! They were in the movie. I don't understand.

I went to the theaters to watch the movie the first week it was out; just because it had my favorite singer of all time in the movie, Shirley Caesar. But as it turns out I really enjoyed the whole movie and I am not to big fan of Beyonce but she is a really good actress. I loved most of the songs in the movie but kept passing the soundtrack up. I finally bought the soundtrack and it is the best soundtrack that I have heard in a long time. My favorite songs on here are:

"I Know," by Destiny's Child (whom I am not a big fan of, but I really love that song).
"To Da River" by T-Bone, Zane, Montell Jordan for all the hip hop fans.
"Rain Down" by Angie Stone and Eddie Levert, Sr
"I'm Getting Ready" by Ann Nesby
"The Stone" by Shirley Caesar and Ann Nesby (takes you to church).
"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" by Beyonce I feel the Holy Ghost when she is singing that song.
"He Still Loves Me" by Beyonce and Walter Williams, Sr (my favorite song on the whole album).
"Time To Come Home" by Beyonce, Angie Stone and Melba Moore (my second fav).

This whole album is a winner. If you would purchase this CD you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great music!, January 12, 2006
This review is from: Fighting Temptations (Audio CD)
This music is a blessing for my heart and my ears. I can't remember enjoying a soundtrack that much since "The Preacher's Wife" was released. Sure, "The Fighting Temptations" is musically much more up-to-date. There is some traditional gospel like Shirley Caesar's and Ann Nesby's songs and great contemporary gospel by Beyonce, Angie Stone and the others. There is also some great so-called secular stuff. In fact, there isn't a song I wouldn't enjoy. The album is really uplifting. I can't get enough of this music ;-)
And the film ... well, it's just a simple story about essential things: what it means to be a Christian, what Christianity is really about and how great it is to give glory to God.
Both the film and the soundtrack are higly recommended, to my mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring film with brilliant music., May 14, 2004
This review is from: Fighting Temptations (Audio CD)
Filled with talented individuals, this soundtrack has surpassed them all. Every single track on this album is brilliant. Its filled with quality!! If you're a God fearing person, and are put off by the traditional somewhat glum songs usually sung in church (they usually are in mine) then this one is for you. It has a sort of element of fun to it.
Beyonce Knowles is a great singer, and together with Angie Stone, Faith Evans and Montel Jordan (just to name a few) this soundtrack is well worth listening to, and if you haven't yet watched the film, what are you thinking?

5.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack of the Year!, September 10, 2003

The "Fighting Temptations" is the best soundtrack I have heard in a long time. Thank the Lord for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The hottest producers of the 80's and early 90' are back with a soundtrack that will be remembered for years to come. I am also happy to see my homegirl from Texas - Beyonce -really show her writing and singing talent on this CD as well as her spiritual side---you go girl! In addition, Mathew Knowles is to be commended as Executive Producer, Houston Texas is really making its mark on the music industry in a big way. It is great to be a TEXAN!
The entire soundtrack is good. My favorites: "He Still Loves Me" sung by Beyonce and Walter Williams,Sr.(of the OJAYS) this is one of the songs written by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, "Time To Come Home" sung by Beyonce,Angie Stone, and Melba Moore, "I Know" sung by Destiny's Child, "Rain Down" sung by Angie Stone and Eddie Levert,Sr.(of the OJAYS), "Summertime" sung by Beyonce featuring P.Diddy also the title cut "Fighting Temptation" which has the rap beat but a real nice mix-(Missy Elliot does it again), "Everything I do" which will probably be the next hit and there are some songs from Gospel Legend Shirley Caesar and Ann Nesby that you do not want to miss. There is also a gospel rap song "To da River" that has the spiritual flavor. This Cd will leave you feeling happy and upbeat no matter what your going through -it will remind all of us to "Keep Your Head Up" because "He still Loves Me"

I just wanted to write a review to share my love of the song "He Still Loves Me" - I rented this movie, and though the movie wasn't great, the soundtrack was, well, great, especially the afformentioned song. I've really never given Gospel music a chance, and this song alone has changed my view of Gospel in one day. The song has an awesome message that is delivered in the best way possible, very touching and strong, as well as chock full of humility and reverence - i think everyone should give it a listen, no matter what religion you are -

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Wonderful Experience, November 22, 2003
This review is from: Fighting Temptations (Audio CD)
After seeing the movie, I had to go out and get the CD. The music is so inspirational and uplifting. I especially love the songs "He Still Loves Me" and "Time To Come Home". The combination of songs incorporates gospel, hip-hop and rhythm and blues. It will appeal to people of various ages and backgrounds. Singers include Beyonce, Angie Stone, Shirley Caesar, Ann Nesby and the O'Jays. When Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are involved, you're bound to be happy.

This is a great album and the movie is just as great! The main reason that I bought this album was to hear the flows of my favorite Christian Rap artist T-Bone. He plays a small part in the movie as one of the convicts that joins the choir. He has a song on the album that is in the movie as well. He raps like no other. He is soooo fast and yet you can still understand his words and message. If you haven't heard any of his stuff, check it out IMMEDIATELY! One of his best albums is entiled The Last Street Preacha. Most of the other songs on this album are awesome as well. Beyonce has a great voice and I wish that she would use it like she does in this movie more often: to Praise God! With that said, buy this album and check out the movie. Both are great and you won't be disappointed. WORD TO MY MAIN MAN T-BONE! PEACE BROTHER! KEEP ON PRAISIN THE LORD!

Good gospel tunes with an upbeat kick. Beyounce's rendition of Fever is very good. She puts a nice twist in the song. She's great at all those little runs (ad libs) she puts into her songs. She won't be winning any Oscars but that's okay. For what she has to accomplish in the movie, she was fine. Shirley Ceasar is wonderful as usual. There are a couple of songs that didn't make it onto this disc. I'm not sure why but it's disappointing. Please see the movie to get the total effect. Melba Moore is a nice surprise here. She is still in good voice. There are other surprises but I'll let you discover them on your own. Enjoy.

This review is from: Fighting Temptations (Audio CD)
I still think there is no better Cuba Godding Jr than the one we saw in "Jerry McGuirre", but I was dragged up to see the movie, though. Well, the movie is terrific!, and you know why??? because its music! (OK, it is really inspirational about Gods Love as many others) but its music makes you really sing and shake yourself in your sit! Quite sticky, lifting and rithmical! I'm agree with everybody saying that Beyonce is great and T-Bone with Lil Zane are just wonderful. It is better to listen the CD after seeing the movie because some recalls from the scenes will make you laugh everytime you play this excellent soundtrack...!
Worths every penny, no doubt about it!
