This is certainly a good book. Clear, amply illustrated, and well done. The contents of this book and four others (oils, acrylics, watercolors, portraits) are contained together in the author's massive book: The Complete Painting Course: A Guide to Techniques in Oils, Watercolors and Acrylics. If I were to recommend a single purchase for the beginning painter, it would be the more comprehensive edition.

I spend most of my time painting figural painting. As a new painter , I keep this book will be next to me. I find this book very helpful. It seems that there aren't many ( if any) figural oil painting books that are current. One must go back and buy vintage books .Luckily, these vintage painting books are wonderful!I would highly recommend this book if you are working on figural painting or drawing. |
