There was a handful of things I wished that Filemaker Pro would do, particularly with layout design. This update does it. Far more attractive layouts, and real-time indications of alignment of fields when dragging and dropping. The latter has been available with graphic design programs for years, and the inclusion in layouts for Filemaker Pro 12 is well worth the upgrade.

The standalone runtime does not support network, IE ODBC. Wish they had a trial available for the Pro Advanced, but they only had the Pro for trial. Aside from that, a decent product, but a little expensive. Now Access 2013 is only around 120.00.

Good Ole Filemaker.
It's had to use but we're still working on it.
This is nothing more or less than I expected.

A a long-time user and developer of FileMaker Solutions, every version has made this product even more productive. For this review I will select only one function addition that make it extremely useful.

Mobility computing and systems access are virtually a mandatory part of any Solution in today's business world. The single addition of the "Device Dimensions" control in the layout design mode will save countless hours of trial and error on the part of developers. Even if one is not a seasoned developer, mobile user interfaces can be built without constantly trying to remember pixel sizes. A real time saver.

Now a tip of the hat to FMP Server. I do not know if anyone else has noticed this or not, but, after testing duplicate Solutions of both 11 and 12 versions of server in side-by-side environments with duplicate hosts and duplicate desktops, 12 has clocked faster in every category. Back to that mobility thing, you are also going to notice a real improvement in throughput using FM Go 12.

Easy to use. Able to publish run-time versions. Even can deploy solutions on iPad and iPhone. Takes a bit to get used to concepts but lots of examples and documentation available on the web.

previous version of FMP, still good if your pc/mac supports it, powerful programming language, extra features in Advanced.
