Good file-r,

I wanted some file-rs for my loose papers, files and magazines and I remembered the cardboard ones from my college days. Going around the various stores, I couldn't find anything simple. Everything was either too fancy or too expensive. It is silly to spend $12-$16 on a single file-r in my opinion. This plastic filer from Rubbermaid is recycled and very reasonably priced ($3.50ish). It isn't too fragile but of the first 6 I ordered, the two packed right on top did come in damaged. This could have happened in transit. However, soon as I reached the Restock-It guys, not only did they send me two replacement filers, they also gave me $5 off next purchase for inconvenience. I really like this product and will only buy these next time because unlike cardboard they are much more durable. They are also clear and light and sturdy and hold the papers and magazines without breaking up. And what's more, they are RECYCLED!

I bought several of these to store magazines. They are made of an extremely brittle plastic. It looks the kind used to make those cheap plastic forks that always break while you're using them. One of the files was already broken on arrival and I don't expect the others to last long. I was surprised by this as Rubbermaid products are usually very good. The Amazon page originally claimed this product was "recycled." That claim now appears to have been removed. Nothing on the package suggests it is recycled. I have an email in to Rubbermaid trying to verify that it is indeed recycled.

Extremely affordable solution to a storage problem...,

Yes, it's true, they're brittle. Yes, it's true, they're chintzy. BUT - they do the job for an incredibly cheap price. Whaddya want for the money? They're not designed to last a lifetime (not much is these days), but here's the thing:Paper/Cardboard file holders: Don't buy cardboard/paper. They get mold/mildew if in a damp environment (very unhealthy to breathe that stuff); vermin LOVE anything made of paper - makes a dandy mouse nest liner, roach snacks, spider hideouts, etc. Been there/done that. Yuck. Pricey plastic file holders: Why would you spend a lot of money for them? Given this mobile society, if/when you move, and you pack them, they'll BREAK! Been there/done that. That's how plastic behaves, sometimes even the costliest plastic. To avoid piling up our landfills with broken plastic, when you're moving and through with these, recycle and donate them to a thrift shop - they LOVE this stuff. Or just recycle them through your local recycling center. If you're independently wealthy, have some custom-made wood file holders made, but if you're not, well, this is the way to go folks. We love `em - bought 24 of the clear ones and all of our magazines and catalogs are now nicely contained, and attractively displayed. And by the way, those `holes' came in handy - we like seeing our magazines through them! Bought ours from shoplet - they'll ship your entire order for a single shipping fee, and they ship FAST, and pack WELL!
