5.0 out of 5 stars Great case-based approach, July 27, 2011
This review is from: Case Files Internal Medicine, Third Edition (LANGE Case Files) (Paperback)
Learning through cases and vignettes is the backbone of this book, and it's a good way to learn key information about common diseases in internal medicine. Each section starts with a case and is followed by a discussion on the important features of the disease. It can't take the place of a larger medicine text but is a good companion and review for shelf exam. Definitely a good resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book I've come across so far, September 15, 2010
This review is from: Case Files Internal Medicine, Third Edition (LANGE Case Files) (Paperback)
This book has been the best book I've used on the floors so far. The cases are concise and contain the key pearls of information you need to know on the floors. Moreover they are introduced in the style of a typical case presentation of a given problem. The different cases are organized into 60 major topics that are relevant to internal medicine. I've found just reading one or two cases a day on my medicine rotation an excellent aid to help me pick up information that I normally might miss in rounds, or by the mere fact that 3 months is just too short of a time to see everything you'll see on the test. I highly recommend this book as a study aid, in addition to MKSAP questions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Supplement, August 5, 2010

Pinar Polat (Ashburn, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Case Files Internal Medicine, Third Edition (LANGE Case Files) (Paperback)
For people who retain better through cases and paragraph format, Case Files can be a very helpful supplement to your main study guide for internal medicine. The cases are very relevant and cover the basic pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of a particular topic. I find the case/paragraph format and presentation of information to be very helpful in retaining information not only for the SHELF, but also for your actual rotation. The cases are short, easy to read, but full of pertinent and up to date information. This is the type of book you can read for 15 minutes and still get something out of, which may or may not be the case with main study guides.
