This book has taught me to me less judgemental about others and mostly about myself. It has allowed me to become much more open both emotionally and sexually. Dr. Altman's kind and simple approach to needs and wants is so easy to understand that it becomes part of your own feeling and thinking. I especially liked being able to put myself in the office of a therapist and understand how it works. I feel as though I went through the best therapy possible, and I've succeeded to change positively in so many wonderful ways. I enjoyed and benefited from this book. TDM - Chicago, ILL.

The stories are riviting, each one has it's own lesson. Where are people like this? I want to meet them, all of them! Ms. Altman must have had quite a life. I envy her freedom of thought. I think emulating her would lead to a better sex life. Please, give us more stories!

Altman's book is a nitty gritty insider's view of what happens behind the closed sessions of a sex and realtionship therapist. Completely shocking, thoroughly stimulating and eduational as well! Read it twice!! Made by significant other read it as well!

After reading about the young girl who became involved with a ;master' in an s&m relationship, I realized my partner was trying to do the same thing to me. I had no idea about such things, and only because of the eduation I received in this book, was I able to realize how destrutive he was, and how much I could have suffered. It's an easy to read, very informative, and interesting book. It will help everyone as it did me.

When I read about the girl who became involved wiith S & M, it made me realize that my boyfriend was trying to involve me in the world of s & m. I have been able to save myself from it, and feel verygrateful to the information in this book. I also loved learning about how the therapist thinks and why she does or does not do certain things. It helped me a great deal, and was really fascinating reading. I highly recommend it for people who are curious about others and for people who want to learn about various sexual behaviors. Thank you to the author, Dr. Altman, helped me so much.

Dr. Altman's Self-Help Book FROM THE FILES OF A SEX THERAPIST makes sense and does not trivialize the intricacies of intimate partnerships. Dr. Altman investigates human conditions that impact emotional and physical connections in a direct and intelligent manner she publishes case studies representing a variety of people who want to maintain their relationships but who have lost contact with their erotc language.This book might not replace a therapist, but it does provide a valuable point of departure for conversations that force candid examinations of behavior patterns linked to lost intimacy.
