When Mulder and Scully visit Dudley, Arkansas, home of the famous Chaco Chicken factory, they find a small town with a big secret- no one in Dudley ever seems to age. Scully's determined to find out why, but if she's not careful, she might lose her head trying to uncover Mr. Chaco's grisly recipe for youth.
I write books for middle grade kids and young adults. My bestsellers include THE VERY SCARY ALMANAC and THE ALMANAC OF GROSS, DISGUSTING & TOTALLY REPULSIVE (both published by Random House, both in their sixth printings, the latter an ALA Recommended Book for Reluctant Readers). With my friend and occasional writing partner, Neal Shusterman, we have just signed a three book deal to co-write a series of middle grade sci-fi/action novels, the first of which, TESLA'S ATTIC, will be released in Fall 2012. I also wrote three X-FILES novels, two collections of scary short stories, another almanac for Random House, and I am currently hard at work on a YA horror novel, THE DEVIL YOU KNOW.
Several of my books have been optioned by Hollywood studios and producers for development as feature films and reality TV shows. I have a long association with Hollywood, as I started out years ago by writing English language dialogue for Japanese cartoons. (Anyone remember CAPTAIN HARLOCK?) Note that I don't speak a word of Japanese!
Currently, CLASS ACT, an original feature film I co-wrote with Neal, based on a true story, is in development with Halle Berry attached to star. We were also hired to write an adaptation of Shakespeare's comedy AS YOU LIKE IT, and we wrote a sequel to the CURIOUS GEORGE movie.
As a Writing Coach I have worked with over 100 writers of children's books while leading critique groups and one-on-one sessions at the Big Sur Writers Workshop, sponsored by the Henry Miller Library and directed by Andrea Brown. Several of my private coaching clients have gone on to have their books published. My coaching site can be found at ericElfmanCoaching.com
