Great recording of Herrmann's music, conducted by the composer, February 13, 2011
This review is from: Film Fantasy: Cinema Gala (Bernard Herrmann's Music From Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Fahrenheit 451) (Audio CD)
Great album, superb sound, and some of his most rousing themes played with full bravado. His Fahrenheit 451 score is often overlooked, and fans of his Hitchcock scores will be delighted in this suite. If you're a fan, pick up a copy, or find the Mobile Fidelity remastered version (which I think is this same album).
Track listing:
1. Journey to the Centre of the Earth: Mountain Top & Sunrise; Prelude; The Grotto; Salt Slides; Atlantis; The Giant Chameleon & the Fight; The Shaft & Finale
2. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad: Overture; The Duel with the Skeleton; Baghdad
3. The Day the Earth Stood Still: Outer Space; Radar; Gort; The Robot Space Control; Terror; Farewell & Finale
4. Fahrenheit 451: Prelude; Fire Engine; The Bedroom; Flowers of Fire; The Road & Finale
