The original "anti-hero", Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando, James Dean, Robert DeNiro and the others walk in the footprints of John Garfield. It's frustrating that so little of his work is on DVD (so far) and I hope somebody wakes up and gets more of his films to a waiting public. This commanding force was taken from us much too soon ... and this volume richly documents his career.

Fantastic book!! Great in-depth biography and large photographs of the actor. Garfield had such a short and towards the end, tragic life for one so talented.Grew up poor, made it to Hollywood and then------.
