3M Filtrete 2200 MPR, 6-Pack, Elite Allergen Reduction Filter

What a difference 300 MPR makes! We upgraded to the 3M Filtrete 2200 MPR Elite Allergen Reduction Filters and immediately noticed an improvement in our home air quality.

We live in a non-smoking home with two indoor dogs. Our youngest son is the most sensitive to air quality. We change filters based on his sneezing, which can come on like an attack of the hiccups. We had used the 3M Filtrete 1900 MPR Ultimate Allergen Reduction Filter for years because it was the highest rated filter available for sale at the local home improvement stores.

We found the 3M Filtrete 2200 MPR Elite Allergen Reduction Filter on Amazon.com. They run about $4 higher per filter than the 3M Filtrete 1900 MPR. It would be fantastic if Amazon made these available through their Subscribe & Save program (hint, hint) but we have no other complaints. Amazon sells these filters in 6-packs, which is common among online filter sellers. However, I found Amazon's 6-pack price to be at least $15 cheaper than competitors' prices.

Consumer Reports ranks the 3M Filtrete Allergen 2200 MPR the best Do-It-Yourself filter. It receives an excellent rating for dust/pollen removal, a good rating for smoke removal and a very good rating for airflow resistance. This high-performance filter also meets the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest Health House Program's indoor air quality guidelines.

According to the 3M website, the company "developed the Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) system to demonstrate a filter's ability to capture the smallest airborne particles--from 0.3 to 1 micron in size from the air passing through the filter. The MPR system helps you compare Filtrete filters based on the level of air filtration you want. The higher the MPR, the better the filter's ability to capture particles from the air as it passes through the filter."

Rating: Five stars.

I am always looking for ways to make my life less misserable as my allergies affect all the other conditions of my body especially digestion and Migraine headaches.....that's why I say "Extreme Allergic, or in my case "Extreme Sensitivities")

Bought this product a week ago and installed it immmediately in my home furnace (air blown of course). Felt a bit better in 24 hours and after several days of 24/7 running the furnace (house) fan what a difference.

Am now able to cope with much less allergy medications unless I go outside and get polluted with the extreme amount of spores now in the air namely ragweed.

Other than moving, which I am planning to do asap this is the best alternative to doing so until you can.

My son and I have severe alergies. I bought this because of its highest rating for air cleansing and I am not disappointed. I highly recommend this filter.

I have looked all over for this filter. I can't believe I am no longer using nasal spray every night to breathe. I had used a 1900 rated filter before but what a difference with this. It's like magic. I saw some people thinking this will always last 3 months. Not true. Certainly consider changing sooner than 3 months intervals (as per the instructions) if you have more to filter regularly such as smoke or pet hair. When any furnace filter gets too saturated, it will burn out your furnace blower motor as air cannot pass through well. So far, so great and finally medication free!

THe filtrete elite allergen filters seem to do an excellent job at capturing minute particles of dust, mold and pollen. The house seems to stay a bit cleaner.
THe only potential problem is with delivery of the package. Unless the supplier starts packaging the box of filters in a larger box with packaging foam, expect that the filters may occasionally arrive somewhat damaged. The box that they come in is not sturdy enough for shipping.

This filter does a great job. I Highly recommend it to anyone who suffers allergies

I purchased these because we live in Austin - one of the Allergy capitals of the World. They don't last as long as other filters (I used to change mine about every 4-6 months) - these last about 2 months. Not that they are bad, but they do catch a lot more dust and particles - which causes them to need replacing more often. My first one actually got so clogged that it reduced the air-flow enough to make me think my AC compressor went out. My only gripe about buying a case of these filters is that the shipper slapped a mailing label on the box and shipped it out. The material for the box of filters was designed to be a display case in a retail environment, not for shipping across the country. When mine arrived, it looked like it was on the bottom of the pile - 3 of the filters were visibly bent in. They are still functional, but don't fit as well in the return air duct once they've been creased.

My husband and I both have allergy problems. We've been using filters on an off for years and this is surely the best on the market that I know about. If you smoke has allergies or just want to reduces the air pollutants, I would try this product. They made our life better.

I have terrible allergies to dust, so I thought I'd give these a try in my home. Turns out, they caused our furnace to overheat and shut down because the fan was having to work so much harder. We also noticed that our house is significantly warmer this summer. We had our A/C inspected and they said this filter was again causing the fan to work too hard and therefore the air was not getting cooled.

While I think this is a great product, I wouldn't recommend it. We are having to downgrade to the 1700 filters so our furnace and A/C will run efficiently.

At work we are surrounded by a Wild life Preserve and a dirt yard, everything is carried by the wind over to us, dust, pollen you name it. Our A/C unit filter needed to be changed every month and we were still having allergy attacks. Since we have switched to these filters, we can Breath. No more stuffy noise, headaches. We are all much happier and healthy thanks to these filters. We now change the filter every 2 months, which saves us money in the long run.
