The Filtrete SF AH 50 HEPA filter is too good a deal to be true. Put simply, it's too small - 1/8" all around.
We bought both the original Miele SA AH50 and this Filtrete Filter to compare them. Returning the Filtrete now. If you are interested in having a working HEPA filter, you don't want a gap all around the filter when it sits in the vacuum - such gap renders the whole HEPA filtration idea useless. Hence, at $20 the Filtrete is not $30 saved vs. the $50 Miele original, but it's $20 wasted on the useless Filtrete version.

This was a no-brainer. Either $50 for the Miele version or this totally suitable replacement.
Fits perfectly and the air is happy and fresh!

I bought this Hepa filter from an Amazon referral site thinking that I could save about $30.00 over the high cost of a Miele Hepa filter. The manufacturer is 3M, so I thought the quality would be good. I was sadly mistaken!

My filter arrived and I proceeded to install it in my Miele vacuum but noticed that it fit much looser than the authentic Miele filter I had just removed. I looked at the 3M filter to find out why it was so much looser and immediately saw that both of the long sides of the filter were substantially warped at the area of the integrated gasket. In addition, I measured the width of the filter and it is approximately 1/16 inch smaller than the Miele filter. The filter is supposed to seal all the way around the perimeter to ensure that all of the vacuum discharge air has to go through the Hepa filter. This was not the case at all as my filter had gaps at both long sides.

The discharge air would of course take the path of least resistance and a good deal of it would blow by the Hepa filter straight into the home environment. Not good if you suffer from allergies like so many of us... Guess I have to pay the over inflated price for the real deal... ;(

I don't know if Miele changed the size of the S4 exhaust filter port, or if 3M somehow managed to measure the Miele incorrectly, but this filter does NOT fit the Miele S4 Neptune vacuum.

Technically, the filter "fits" inside the exhaust port, and the vacuum lid will actually close. But if you look closely, you will see the filter is about 1/8 inch smaller than the opening, and the rubber seal therefore does not even come into contact with the vacuum. Any HEPA filtering capability the filter might provide is rendered useless, as the exhaust air can flow right around the edges of the filter.

Quite a shame, because this 3M filter is well made. Miele is severely price gouging customers with the obscene pricing on their Miele-branded HEPA filter, and this was a welcome alternative -- but this 3M/Filtrete product doesn't fit the vacuum properly, and had to be returned.

Works great and fits perfectly in our Miele canister vacuum. Plus it is about $10 less than the Miele version of the filter.

I purchased this item with some hesitation after reading mixed reviews online, but my experience is that it fits a Miele S4210 perfectly. No issues whatsoever here. IMHO, a fine 3M product.

This filter functions well, however it only gets 4 stars because I've seen HEPA filters for other brands for much less.

If you have concerns about fitment on a Neptune vacuum, don't worry--there's a gap, that is likely by design, between the filter and the LID. That means air that's already been filtered might be "escaping", which doesn't matter.

Good product overall. The air coming out of the vac seems very clean.
