The action proceeds and in some places wanders from Colombia to Seattle, Washington, and across the land and under the sea, too, realizing a full quota of vivid combat scenes and a comparatively high body count along the way. Disbelief that drug-lord dictators could find high-tech subs handy must be suspended, but once it is, heck, relax and enjoy. And if you're aware of what sailors feel when a beloved ship reaches the end of her career, the book eventually achieves real power. Above average for its salty breed. Roland Green

This is a good read. The plot continues through several characters to culminate into the final riviting scenes. There is enough technical information to keep the interest of those who truly understand those elements, but that same information does not interfere with the enjoyment of the story for those less technically knowledgeable. In fact, I learned a great deal of the atmosphere surrounding the lives of our brave military personel by reading this book.
The story deals with the good/evil struggles of our lives here on this planet through the actions of our military and the underbelly of society from which they protect us.
I do recommend this book.

I am a retired Navy Submariner who now lives in New York. It was exciting to read about so many instances and details that had the realism only a fellow submariner could express, even down to the mannerisms and lingo. It is also apparent that the author has been to the places cited in the book. Once again, having been to the Puget Sound and San Diego, it brought back memories. The combination of submarine realism, location facts, and the weaving back and forth of the story line between different scenes and settings kept my interest, and kept me wanting to read more. Great book for a relaxing yet interesting read.

FINAL BEARING is a real page turner. Make sure you have the time to stick with this intriguing "get the bad guys" book. I'm still wondering what happened to the two trucks that got away. I liked this better than Clancey's submarine stories as the scenes are more authentic and complete in detail. I almost got sea sick reading of the influence of heavy seas upon the men. Sure would make a great movie! I'm looking forward to the next book.
