5.0 out of 5 stars The unique Nero Wolfe, September 23, 2008
This review is from: The Final Deduction: Nero Wolfe Mystery (Paperback)
Nero Wolfe, oversized gourmet detective, genius par excellence, is one of the most unique characters ever created by a mystery novel author. And Rex Stout wrote a lot of outstanding mystery novels featuring Nero Wolfe, his invaluable assistant and story-teller Archie Goodwin, and his chef, Fritz Brenner, whose recipes many times appear in the books. Not many readers can deduce who the culprit is before the classic revelation scene in which Wolfe eloquently proves who is the guilty party........ and that is what makes for a great whodunnit. The style is clear and eloquent in vocabulary, the plot construction is pure literary architecture, the length is never excessive, and, with such memorable characters, enjoyment is assured.
"The Final Deduction" is a prime example of the art of Rex Stout and lucky are those who acquire the book and read it.
An acid test of how fulfilling a mystery novel can be is whether, after a first reading, one reads it more than once again after a time. Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe mystery novels pass this test frequently with flying colors and "The Final Deduction" is no exception.
