5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly intuitive
Great program. Makes proper screenwriting really easy. The learning curve is non existent. Once you learn how to hit the Return key twice, you know how to use the program.

2.0 out of 5 stars Final Draft... Financial Disappointment, May 27, 2008
This review is from: Final Draft Version 7 Academic Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
I'm a writer, here's my story. I bought Final Draft mainly because I felt I needed to upgrade from Microsoft Works or get left behind. Well, I've worked with Final Draft for a while, and to be honest I do not think it was worth the $150.00 dollars + postage. It's very hard to format scripts, especially ones that had been saved in other formats - it adds all these extra spaces and it's terribly time consuming to remove them. Also, it sometimes adds in a character heading when one isn't needed and it's very difficult to get rid of those showing up all the time.
I cannot figure out how to use the Tagger part at all. The most disappointing part for me was that it DOES NOT read the scripts back - it does however save your script in a new format that you cannot add to. And finally my last complaint is that the disk explaining how to use it is NOT INCLUDED and sells for $30.00 extra bucks. Now, maybe it's just my computer - it's an Everex with Microsoft Windows XP that's not even a year old. Maybe it's just my bad luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, April 21, 2008
This review is from: Final Draft Version 7 Academic Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
Final Draft is so great for anyone looking to work with scripts. It's not that script writing is terribly difficult, it's just a lot of tedious formatting. This program makes it so simple and easy to write out a script and make it look polished and professional. As an added bonus, it's set up to work with Toon Boom Storyboard Pro - which just makes film making so much easier.

As most of you probably know, working on a film from start to finished is a lot of work; programs like Final Draft, Toon Boom's Storyboard Pro, FrameForge 3D Studio 2, etc. are great tools that help people who don't have a lot of resources create professional results and cut down on the immense amount of time that it would take (especially one person or a small group) to finish an entire film.

Overall, this is a great product that I haven't had any problems with at all.

Hey I'm a grad student and writer, I've tried those other programs but none of them came close to FD. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to write screenplays, stage-plays and for TV and so much more.

I first began using Final Draft in college. Now, as a Media Artist and Screenwriter, it makes formatting my screenplay so simple. This software is a must have if you plan to sell a script to a studio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Draft Academic Version 7 7FD-154-205-145-328 a first step for writing a book "I Kicked Two Habits", August 20, 2011

I wrote my first screen play on Final Draft Version 7, which I ordered on Amazon and it was a tremendous help in orgainization for the start of a novel I would like to write. I was told about this wonderful tool by Frank Williams who owns a film company and has won awards for his productions. He thinks my first attempt at writing on Final Draft is done well, but I get the impression that I need to do more. It is fun to use Final Draft, because it lets you see the content of your writing in the back and forth dialogue you create. The Version 7 is set up in such a way that it is easy to create a flow of conversation the way it happened. In my case it is a true story about myself as a Catholic Nun. You are able to save and edit your work, as well as send it to others for observation and comment. I would highly recommend the Final Draft Version 7 which can be ordered on Amazon, to anyone, especially beginners at writing. I have been able to motivate myself to create in many areas, but writing is something you have to do everyday, and Final Draft encourages this process. 5.0 out of 5 stars Final Draft Software, January 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Final Draft Version 7 Academic Win/Mac (CD-ROM)
For me, Final Draft is the gold standard for screenplay software. The quickest route to rejection is a script that is poorly formatted. Makes you look like an amateur. Final Draft does all of that work for you with shortcut keys so that your format is always correct. Of course, if the script is just bad, Final Draft can't fix that. I have used FD for about five years, and can't say that I have a complaint.
