5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide
Dan Birlew should continue to write strategy guides for Bradygames. He did a phenomenal job of writing a guide for these two games. There are explanations for each character, all the items, spells, and techs for each game. The walkthroughs are very detailed, but some of the maps are not there. 3.0 out of 5 stars Chrono Trigger walkthrough
I strongly think that this book is useful and helpful for both of the games that it covers. If you need help in either or both games, I suggest that you get this book or figure things out on your own. This book covers everything the games have to offer. Also, this book not only covers one game, but both games that are packaged together.

There are explanations for each character, all the items, spells, and techs for each game. The walkthroughs are very detailed, but some of the maps are not there. I can understand because some areas are straightforward, but for a first timer I can see them getting lost in some of the castles. There are tons of data on all the items and aspects of the games, and this guide will be informative even to veterans who have played these games multiple times. This guide is the best compliment to the game that you can find.

I really enjoyed this strategy guide. It had very good coverage of the maps and various magic and techs available in both games. I would recommend this strategy guide to anyone who plays Final Fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Mountain of Detail, August 31, 2001

This is probably the best strategy guide I have used to date. The detail is incredible, especially for FFIV, and bestiary information (much-needed for FFIV) is given before each dungeon. The walkthrough warns you when a party member will leave you, but doesn't give away the plot. This guide is essential, especially since we're talking about FFIV Hard-Type. Also, a complete guide to CT's Extras Mode and endings is given, making it that much easier to get all those goodies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for the rpg world!!!, August 8, 2003

This game guide is one of the best that i have seen yet for chrono trigger...though the cover isnt very flashy it is after all what is inside that counts. With this guide you wont have to worry about getting lost in that annoying dungeon or get defeated by that darn nasty boss and have to keep reloading your game. not only that but with this guide you will be able to complete all 11 alternate endings of the game. yes it may seem like a lot of work but it is worth it everytime, trust me. rest assured this guide will bring you to the top of your game.

I have found that in several other guides written by dan birlew the items, magic, etc. are listed incorrectly. it appears he's done it again. if all you need is a map and some helpful items then this book is for you. however, i wouldn't be so generous as to call it comprhensive knowledge for the game. once again, locations, items, and other general mis-knowledge comes up several times throughout this book. for a real eye-opener as to how bad the author is, play this game and read some online faqs at gamefaqs.com and compare the knowledge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two words: suggested levels!, July 19, 2001

This review is from: Final Fantasy Chronicles Official Strategy Guide: Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 4 (Paperback)
Stategy guides are great and all, but I still feel like I'm never at the level I should be at. The FF4 section is the first guide I've seen that has suggested levels. If only every guide had those...

I commend the company I purchased this product from because even though I purchased a book that is over 10 years old used, it was still in excellent condition. The seller did not lie in their description and I hope all future transactions I have at Amazon are this good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy Chronicles Official Strategy Guide, May 18, 2009

I recommend this Guide because you will never get stuck (what to do next, hidden items, etc). It gives you the strategy how to kill the big bosses (which I will admit is great). I do not think that using a guide means you are cheating. You would be surprised just how much you are missing trying to do the game without one. Any game, if you can get a Guide by all means obtain one.

Product was clear and fully illustrated in a very helpful manner.
When ever i got stuck it helped me right out. Plus it told you how to get all the endings to chrono trigger! A steal at fifteen for any one who knows role-playing games.
