A decent game, wasnt too big into it, especially after final fantasy 7, but hey...was good in its own right, even had some nice cinematic battles and such. Some of the side quest stuff and games take some getting used to...but overall a good game.

I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy. 8 is not the best Final Fantasy ever, but it is a good one. Try as I might the draw system for magic is frustrating at times. The concept of learning abilities through a characters espers is a nice touch. The card game is introduced in this game. "lame". I did not like it. Of course there is the typical love story surrounding the main character Sqaull. The game play itself is solid and enjoyable. The story line is interesting to say the least. One has to really be paying attention throughout the whole game to really understand the ending. I had to play the game through a 2nd time just to get it. The Strategy guide comes in handy, you don't want to miss any opportunities to collect items or espers.

Overall I love the game, I've had it since it released and continue to play it every so often. Not the best Final Fantasy, but worth the investment. If you are into RPG's this game is a must play, maybe not a must keep for some. If you have play FF7 and loved it, you will like 8, but not as much as 7.
