4.0 out of 5 stars A deep, enjoyable MMO.
Final Fantasy XI was first released on the Playstation 2 back in 2002. It then went to the PC, and now on the Xbox 360.

The 360 Ultimate Collection is what I'm reviewing, so let's do a recap of what's offered.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unable to play due to flawed registration system.
Well, I bought this game a week ago and attempted to register for an account with playonline. During the registration process there was a non-specific error. After checking all the fields (since it didn't say which one had an error) I gave up and thought I'd try again later. BIG MISTAKE! The registration code is only good ONCE. Even if you don't complete the registration,...

4.0 out of 5 stars A deep, enjoyable MMO., May 15, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Final Fantasy XI The Ultimate Collection (Video Game)
Final Fantasy XI was first released on the Playstation 2 back in 2002. It then went to the PC, and now on the Xbox 360.

The 360 Ultimate Collection is what I'm reviewing, so let's do a recap of what's offered.

You get the original game, in all it's glory. It's a deep, in-depth MMORPG, with a HUGE class selection, HUGE job profession list, auction houses, sprawling cities, and a world that makes WoW look pathetic in size.

The game starts out slow, like many MMO's, but once you gain a few levels, get the hang of questing and missions, you'll start having more and more fun. Exploring is very rewarding as well.

The class system will be familiar to ANY oldschool FF players. You start out with Warrior, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Monk, and Thief.

There's other classes, but they cannot be accessed without doing a quest, and reaching certain levels.

I wont give them all away, but a few are Dragoon, Bard, and Dark Knight. So yeah, tons of class depth, and options available to the player.

Now what's so awesome about THIS particular version is it comes with all of the expansions, plus 3 add-ons! You get the great game, expansions, and add-ons for an insanely low price! it is truely UNBEATABLE!

Things to note however ARE: The 360 version feels clunky, and you can tell it wasn't really intended for the 360 system.

The graphics are dated, and very PS2 quality. This is not a remake, it's the PS2 game simply brought to the 360.

With that said, the players that use the PS2 version, or the PC version can still play with the 360 users! everybody shares the same world.

There's also a bug with the 360 version that if you turn the game off while playing, using the xbox button on the controller, the game data will be corrupt. You HAVE to quit the game using the in-game menus!

If you're looking for a great MMO with very minor bugs but a HUGE world and a TON of depth, this IS the MMO for you. Likewise, if you're new to MMO's but love the Final Fantasy franchise, you will likely love this game.

And of course, the Ultimate Collection is definitely THE way to go.

I've been playing this game since it first came out and absolutely love it. When I purchased an X-Box this game was a must have as a collector and it also includes the newest expansion packs that were offered in 2009. It's a good MMORPG that doesn't include a lot of blood shed and there is always something to do and people from all over the world to get acquainted with.

Ignore the crappy ratings that a couple of morons have given this game here.. (Seriously, just do a little homework before you buy *anything* online and you'll make better decisions - it really is that simple!)

This IS the ultimate *FFXI* collection -- you get everything that cost others TONS of money all packaged into one little $15-$20 deal.

I've been playing FFXI since October of 2004 and while it is a huge time-sink, I have had some INCREDIBLE experiences with this game. I have met some amazing people and we've accomplished a lot together but no matter how much you actually do, there's always plenty more to do as well. I dare say this has become my most beloved gaming experience and my favorite game of all time. =)

Yes, it costs $12.95/mo to keep your account active.
Yes, you can try it for one month absolutely free.
Yes, you will get hooked and you won't mind paying the monthly fee. lol ^^

Also, you do not have to have an XboxLive GOLD account to play this game online.
You simply need to register and get yourself a *FREE* XboxLive SILVER account for this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy a training tool for life, December 20, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Final Fantasy XI The Ultimate Collection (Video Game)
Final Fantasy is a RPG (role playing game) that has been played since the 197-s by gamers in the Far East (Japan, South Korea,) Europe (Great Britain, France, Belgium, Germany) and through out the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America. I began playing the game in June 2009 and since I've met gamers from France and from the West Coast of the USA. The game is emphatically NOT one that a person can play by ramming through in character from beginning to end in a week. Gamers who want that experience don't want this game. It is deep, complex and endless. You must learn how to earn gil(the money of the game) by either making things people want, growing things people want or taking things apart to make other things people want. The world of the game is large and continually expanding. You must learn how to work with other players to grow and become strong. There are monsters aplenty to dispose of and by doing that you earn experience points -
I believe this game is the single most challenging and most entertaining game of its kind being played today. I truly love playing. Give FFXIFinal Fantasy XI The Ultimate Collection a try. You will find a lifetime of enjoyment in a very small package. You must be patient. It is definitely not a game for those who are in a hurry to master a game and move on. And installation takes hours.
The game itself is huge.

My husband talked me into trying out the game. I was surprised to find that I enjoyed the game. It reminded me of the Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast). I play it everyday for at least an hour. Awsome game!

I've been playing this game for over a month and it has constantly been in my 360,i can't seem to get away from it. i highly recommend anyone who even has a remote interest in RPGs to give this one a go. and a word of caution though, unless you already have a PlayOnline id,i highly recommend you buy this game brand new,as you HAVE to have the registration code thats found in the back of the instruction manual to install the game.

Well, I bought this game a week ago and attempted to register for an account with playonline. During the registration process there was a non-specific error. Even if you don't complete the registration, once it has been entered that's that. It's gone.

I then emailed support. This was NO help. They asked me for some account information and then sent me an email saying they can't handle this issue via email. They included a link to the contact section of their site where the ONLY FORM OF CONTACT IS EMAIL! I'm at a loss. Now after a week of trying to register and fighting with an automated customer service system I just want to get my wasted time back.

In short I would give this zero stars since I can't even play it! Come on Square-Enix...

I am not a fan of xbox 360 (or any other console game system) and far prefer the PC for my gaming, but I got this one for my niece and she loves it.

This game is addicting. My wife and I played this game for years and decided to take a break. Well the break is over (Let's face it FFXIV is horrible) and we are returning back to FFXI for new adventures and to hangout with some great friends!

P.S. Cerberus server, only way to go. :)
