Simply Amazing,

This review is from: Final Fantasy VIII: Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (Audio CD)
This is NOT the 4-CD Final Fantasy VIII Original Soundtrack (OST). What it IS, though, is Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (SUCCESSION OF WITCHES is an anagram of the title), and it's amazing. On this CD, in the great tradition of Final Fantasy soundtracks, is the Orchestrated version of selected tracks from the OST. This means that the songs have been rearranged and played by a full orchestra. If you though these songs were great before, wait 'til you hear this! A few tracks on this CD were left unchanged because they have been already orchestrated(Liberi Fatali [played during the first video], Eyes On Me, Ending Theme). There are some unlikely tracks on this CD, and you'll hear the song in a completely new way, like Fisherman's Horizon with it's cheery vocals and The Man With The Machine Gun (I love the use of violins in it!). The strangely touching song played at the begining of the Disc 2 in the game, Fragments Of Memories, is given new life, making it a lovely and moving addition to the CD. Those are only a few of the mind-blowing tracks on the CD. Though this is a bit of a niche CD, it's a great addition to anyone's colletion, Final Fantasy fan or not.

FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC -- A Review,
By
This review is from: Final Fantasy VIII: Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (Audio CD)
This CD, titled FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC (meaning "Succession of the Witches"), is *not* the 4 CD collection of music from the Final Fantasy VIII game. Rather, it is a selection of the music remastered with a full orchestra. But don't let that deter you from picking this CD up! "Liberi Fatali", "Eyes on Me", and "Ending Theme" appear on this CD in their original form, and everyone of the other ten tracks on this CD are redone in a way that is absolutely amazing. Most striking is the title song of the CD; "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is transformed into a deeply haunting sorceress's hymn that will echo in your ears for days afterward. I highly recommend this CD...it's definitely worth every penny!

Excellent orchestral arrangement,

I'm a big fan of rearranged video game music, and this cd is one of my new favorites. Every song is played by a professional orchestra, and it just sounds excellent.A few things worth mentioning. The first track, Liberi Fatali, is the music played in the opening movie to ff8. The melody hasn't changed(though the sound effects from the Squall/Seifer battle arent there), but somehow it just sounds clearer and sharper than what was in the original game. It's an excellent piece that doesnt need any rearrangement. The next two tracks(Blue Fields, which is the overworld theme, and Dont Be Afraid, the basic battle theme), had pretty lackluster original melodies to begin with, but this arrangement manages to play them both pretty well. They aren't spectacular, but they are still a lot better than the originals. Track 6, Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec, is also excellent, until you get to the last part of the song. This weird wailing female's voice comes in and I think it completely ruins what would have otherwise been one of the highlights of the cd. The first time I heard it, I thought someone had come up behind me and started making fun of the song. It's just so off-key and doesn't at all. "The Man With the Machine Gun" is another excellent piece. It isn't a rocking battle theme like its original, but its still an upbeat, light-hearted piece that accurately reflects the original. Very well done. "Eyes on Me" is the same as it was in the game. I was never a fan of lyrics in video game music, and even though I can agree that it is a pretty song, I just dont like lyrics(the chanting voices and the Fithos Lusec is ok with me though). I think they could have taken out one of the slower songs and replaced it with a faster-paced piece, like the "Attack on Dollet" theme, but thats just me. Every piece on this cd is orchestrated excellently. My college roomate, who is getting a minor in music, loves this cd(even though he never played any video games in his entire life). He points out to me all the "cool" parts of the music like how they do a "major 7th" chord or something like that :). A tad expensive, but its an excellent cd, enjoyable by both gamers and non-gamers.

This is one of the greatest compositions I have ever heard. I have both of the more recent Final Fantasy games, and if you love the music just as much as I do, you will love this cd just as much as I do. It has many of the great songs from the game on this cd. It has the opening and ending theme, and the cd has two battle themes. It has the great "Eyes on You". It also includes music from the SeeD party, the music from Balamb Garden, the music from Fisherman's Horizon, and it also has music from the world map. Once again, if you love the game and it's music, you'll love this cd. I recommend you purchase it today!

Nobuo Uematsu is my hero. This man has created some of the best soundtracks that I have seen available. Even if you are not a big fan of Final Fantasy, I think you will enjoy this soundtrack because the songs work perfectly toghether. This soundtrack also sounds the most like his Final Fantasy 4 and 6 soundtrack. This is a definite must buy for any fan of the Final Fantasy series.

This CD is an arrangement of the original soundtrack from Final Fantasy VIII. On a scale of 1 to 10, this definatly gets a 10/10. A few tracks remain the same as in the game because they are already orchestrated (Liberi Fatali, Eyes on Me and Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec) but the rest has been totally done over, and the result is top notch.Blue Fields has a lot more feeling in this arrangement. The Oath is much more impressive and sad. Don't Be Afraid (Battle Theme) is more intense less annoying to listen to the original which you have no doubt heard one too many times during the game. The really excellent tracks are some which you wouldn't think originally. Balamb Garden is a breaktaking track to listen to, the techno track The Man with the Machine Gun (Laguna's Battle Theme) sounds amazing using intense violin playing and brass. A big congratulations to composer Nobuo Uematsu and the arranger Shiro Hamaguchi. This is a must buy, indeed an essential addition to the amazing Final Fantasy music colletion. Let's hope they hire this arranger again for the rest of the series!

I loved the Final Fantasy titles and couldn't wait to get a soundtrack of the music of them. When I got the music to Final Fantasy VIII, i got this CD, instead of the original soundtrack. I love the music on this CD. All of the pieces are turned into great music for anything and not just listening to for th game. All people will love the music on this CD, if they did or didn't play the famous RPG.

Final Fantasy VIII Soundtrack,

This soundtrack is wonderful. Not as great as FFVII's, but still a great soundtrack. "Eyes on Me" performed by Faye Wong was a lovely song; it was the foundation of too many songs on the soundtrack, though. For example, Julia. Nevertheless, the music was nice to listen to. Personally, Liberi Fatali was one of the coolest songs because it was in the introduction where Squall and Seifer are training with each other. One of the nicest FMVs...not that there were any bad ones on the game. The graphics in FFVIII were terrific. Liberi Fatali and Eyes on Me are the nicest, in my opinion.

Having experienced nearly every Final Fantasy phenomena I don't think that anything can top the music of FF8. "Eyes on Me" is positively my favorite (Faye Wong I love you!) "Fatali Liberi" is wicked. If you truly love the Final Fantasy Collection this soundtrack is for you!
