5.0 out of 5 stars Nobuo Uematsu Is My Idol
What I Like most about the Final Fantasy Series is its music. That's what keeps me going back for more. When most people think the game isn't up to par, I don't mind too much becuase I am drawn more to the music. Here is the track listing since the site has not done so.

Disc One
1. I Would Like to Say Everything
2. To Zanarkand
3. The Prelude...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly mediocre
I don't know why people keep saying this is the full soundtrack, because it's not. It is an abridged one-disc version released in the U.S. by TokyoPop. Read the product details, guys.

Anyway, the soundtrack to FF10 is extremely mediocre. It's got one very beautiful track, "Zanarkand" (opening piano theme), which to me is worth the whole price of the CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars A lot of music! You get everything in this!, April 28, 2003
By
Dressi "K N D" (Gainesville, Ga United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This is the full IMPORT OST. Just check out how many songs it has on it. I purchased the smaller Domestic copy before i realized what i was getting into. I immediately turned around the found this copy to purchase. The music is fully orchestrated for the several pieces, some with smaller chamber ensembles. But on a whole i could tell that a lot was synthizised. The style of Final Fantasy X was leaning towards a more pop culture than it has ever before. FFX was no longer dealing with the Knights, Dragons and Black Chocobos that FF4 included, nor the classical style of FFIX. The game itself had so many new things in it that the soundtrack had to have some new things, including the Otherworld (Zanarkand Blitzball Theme / Battle with Jehct Theme). One of the best things i have found with this soundtrack are the overworld themes, the world map music so to speak. Such as the Besaid theme, the Thunderplains theme ... Such themes are perfect mood music to just have running in the low background for almost any occasion. The soundtrack also has the Song of the Faith from each of the Aeons, including Yunalesca's version, the Ronso Tribe version. Suteki Da Ne (Isn't it Beaufitul) comes in two versions, all the specialized battle themes, such as the final battle with Seymour, and Yu-Yevon's final bout.

It's great, has some really good music on it. And the Chocobo Theme from FFX is one of the best Chocobo themes out there, right up there with the FFIX chocobo theme.

These 4 CDs is sure awesome, but if you buy at Amazon, it is sure expensive, you can either buy at Amazon Japan or us.yesasia.com (like I did), the price is a lot cheaper (save about 20 bucks from your pocket). Trust me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice job, Nobuo!, February 22, 2003
By A Customer
I was originally looking at the full OST from Final Fantasy X but my wallet couldn't accomodate my refined palette - thus, my gaze fell up this CD, for only 15 bucks! I clicked on it and checked it out.

Not only is the CD affordable, but it contains some of the best tracks of the OST. My only gripes are that they chose to include some of the, uh, 'less-good' tracks instead of the totally kewl Auron Theme, and Suteki da Ne is only orchestral, instead of the full version. If you can get the 4-disc OST, do so now! If not, grab this sampler...or play through the game again.

5.0 out of 5 stars What makes a Final Fantasy game?, November 6, 2005

Darius Jackson "Action Jackson" (Rocklin, California United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Some say its the storyline. Some say its the battle system. Other say its the character involvement. Other would argue replay value. But to me, its the music that keeps me comming back. FF7 was the first FF I ever played - and while the game was oddly strange and hard to get into; I found myself going to sleep humming MIDI tunes in my head. The games music was addicting and strangly kept me comming back, only to get totally sucked in and completly engulfed into one of the - if not argueably the best- RPG's ever to grace a screen.

FFX is again, another classic game. Some would argue that it's actually better then FF7. In some regards it is - theres no denying that. One aspect is defintally its music. FFX has beautiful music - real ochestra's and piano's. Real feeling to it, 'specially if you played the game all the way through. First time I heard "To Zanarkand" (the games main opening theme music) I knew right away I was gonna love the music in this game - and the storyline. Listening to tracks like "Bisaido Island" takes me back when the game first started and you meet the innocent Lady Yuna, who is now ready to embark and her epical journey across Spira. The different versions of the " Hymn of the Fayth" reminds me of the excitement of getting a new Aeon. "Luca" reminds me of meeting Auron (the games best character IMO) and the journey through and memeries of exploring Luca. "People of the North Pole"; one of my favorites, draw back to mine hours of powerleveling so I could be strong enough to beat one of the hardest versions of Seymour (villian ingame). Everytime I hear the song "Challenge" I instantly think of the frustration of battling Lady Yunalesca - and who could forget the beautiful "Someday the Dream Will End" when Tidus meets up with his father for the last time before the game ends and Sin (the main Villian) is completely destroyed.

Memeories are captured in the music - and that to me is what makes a FF game worth playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another work of beauty and variety, November 11, 2001
By
Hope Wilson (Novato, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This CD is fantastic. Its music is rich, often eerie, and there's something for everyone to listen to. From the gentle "To Zanarkand" to the abrasive "Otherworld," this music puts a new spin on some of the Final Fantasy music themes.

The original battle theme is kept and enhanced into something that you can put on "Repeat" and listen to, well, repeatedly. In addition to the infamous "Suteki Da Ne" ("Isn't it Beautiful?") there is the vocal song "Song of Prayer" which shows up in various forms throughout the CD. There is also the punk rock "Otherworld," which I think was the only mistake on the entire soundtrack. However, it will suit people with different tastes.

The music ranges from the exciting to the soothing. It has something for everyone, and this is its greatest strength.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oustanding music! But not everything out of the game., January 20, 2002

Chris Askew (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews
I for one am a big fan of Final Fantasy and all of Squaresoft's other works of genius. If you are as big a fan as I am, you will know that Nobueo Uematsu has created another masterpiece in composing the Final Fantasy X (10) soundtrack. This CD contains all of the most popular music from the game Final Fantasy X itself. If you love and must have every single track of music from the game, you shoulden't get this, but if you just want a sample of Nobueo Uematsu's genius or just love the best tracks of FFX, then this is the soundtrack for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sample Disc???, September 6, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This CD is just acting like "Sample/Demo" of the real FFX Disc, good for those who are short in budget. I miss few of good soundtracks like Tidus's theme, Spira, Via Purifico, etc. If you're really love FFX, try to buy the 4 CD OST.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uematsu's work is, as always, amazing., July 26, 2002
This review is from: Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
WOW! That's really all that needs to go into the review. This soundtrack is astounding; graduating to the PS2's higher sound quality, Uematsu unleashes some of his best compositions yet.

The tracks on this soundtrack really shine. From the haunting "To Zanarkand" (disc 1, track 02) to the atmospherically creepy "Hope and Dreams Aren't Here" (d1, t12) to the energetic "The Men Who Live For Blitz" (d1, t17), the music comes out fast and strong as soon as it's put in.

Interestingly, the first time I listened to this, I skipped a lot of the tracks, since I was in an impatient mood. The reason for this is that Uematsu gradually brings in the music more for a more cinematic feeling - the insta-gratification tracks of FFVI, for example, are long gone now. This isn't bad at all, just a note to give the soundtrack a full chance.

Again, the songs go above and beyond. "Otherworld" (d1, t05) is a stunningly surprising guitar-rock masterpiece, and some of the tracks, like "Auron's Theme" (d2, t12) and "Seymour Battle" (d4, t15) are some of Uematsu's best work ever. Atmosphere, again, is found heavily on this music, too, making it even better. Akin to FFIX, but on a much richer and grander scale, this music drips with haunting atmosphere that fits both the lush game settings and the intentions of the songs.

Ironically, graduating to the PS2's sound abilities also damaged some of the songs a little, though. Uematsu himself explained this: some of the songs are more repetitive or subdued because with the voice-acting found in Final Fantasy X, more of the music had to go into the background and allow the actors' voices to come through. And it's true, some tracks are blindingly repetitive, slow, or quiet (they never reach an aural climax of any sort) - such as "Father's Murderer" (d3, t20).

But the grandeur of the majority outshines the instances where this inescapable weakness occurs. This soundtrack is incredible; with every incarnation the Final Fantasy music begins to sound more and more orchestral and departed from the days of low-tech bleeps and boops. Even if you're not a fan of game music in particular, Final Fantasy X's soundtrack will have something for you. And if you are a fan and don't own this yet... you're really missing something, buy it ASAP!

5.0 out of 5 stars Astounding, Breath-Taking, Super-Duper, Way Too Good For Words Music, July 8, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Final Fantasy X: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This really is astounding, breath-taking, super-duper too good for words music, and is definately Nobuo Uematsu's best music ever. In fact, I will go on to say that this album has the best music in each song's respective genre that anyone has ever heard (otherworld was a little unique though, I must say) and maybe, just maybe, anyone will ever hear. Unless Final Fantasy XII is better.

Some of the reason for this may be caused by the emotional connection with the characters. For example, to someone else, 'To Zanarkand' (Disc 1 track 2) and 'Isn't it Beautiful(Suteki da ne)? (Orchestra Version)' (Disc 4 Track 21) may sound like a nice classical piece and an orchestra with some words to someone who hasn't played the game, but to me, who has played the game, that is the song where ************* and the last song where ************** and I, a twelve year old who never cries, cried. And I am still VERY touched whenever I hear these songs.

Another thing I wanted to say about this album is that it contains (I am pretty sure) every single note of music in the game. I, as a gamer, think that this is the right thing for Square to do. I loved every second, even the filler music heard between big songs and melodies. I remember the filler music in the game and how it was linked to the storyline-that was when ********** was told the truth, or when ******** decided to *******.

The bottom line is... I think you should play Final Fantasy X, then buy this soundtrack. It makes this music 100% more enjoyable, and you too may cry during 'To Zanarkand' and 'Suteki da ne.' And if you don't want to play the game, buy something cheaper and more abridged like 'Final Fantasy X [2004 Bonus Track]' so you don't have to skip through all the little filler tunes.

Thanks for listening to all my babble, and PLAY FINAL FANTASY X!!
