Editorial Reviews

Review

Isleib has given us a nice plot, fascinating descriptions of life in the golfing fast lane, and a complex and intriguing protagonist who is convinced that she may be the next murder target. --John Broussard, I Love a Mystery Newsletter

As in the prior novels in the series, Isleib draws upon her experience as a clinical psychologist in coming up with an appropriate resolution, while also imparting her professional insight into the reasons behind the threats to Cassie and the others. The finale gives us hope for Cassie s fictional future, both as a golfer and as an ever-maturing young woman. Is it any wonder that these books are such fun to read? --Fritz Schranck, Hole by Hole

Reading the Cassie Burdette series is simply a fun way to spend one's time. The pace flows nicely, the plot twists and turns with suspense, and Cassie's sense of humor and witty asides bring a lot of smiles. Charming, refreshing, and entertaining, this series leaves the reader anxious for the next. --Christy Tillery French, Authorsden.com

Format: Mass Market Paperback
Professional golfer, Cassie Burdette has qualified to play in the U.S. Women's Open. It's the most prestigious women's golf event in the world and she'd better be at the top of her game because the competition is tough.

But Cassie's first run at the Women's Open is fraught with problems that test her ability to focus and play at a level that can make her a champion. Cassie's friend, Laura is unable to caddie for her because her father is critically ill; she's received a controversial invitation to play in the PGA Buick Championship; her love life is a mess; her family defines dysfunctional; a young amateur golfer is poisoned right before the tournament; and frightening e-mails, a disturbing note and a terrifying snow globe identify her as a target for someone with murder on their mind.

If Cassie isn't careful, she could be headed for a breakdown, or worse, she could turn up dead. Cassie Burdette's first Women's Open could be her last.

Roberta Isleib's Final Fore is a fast-paced mystery that will keep you turning the pages. Her characters are quirky, complex and oh, so interesting. I enjoyed Cassie's frailties and her willingness to learn from her experiences.

While the mystery is fun and compelling, it is the attention to detail about the game of golf that makes Final Fore a real winner. And what's fascinating is you don't have to be a golfer or even enjoy the game to be drawn in and find yourself absorbed in the minutia of the life of a touring professional.

Armchair Interviews says: Final Fore is a fun read. Check out Isleib's other novels: Six Strokes Under, A Buried Lie, Putt to Death, and Fairway to Heaven. It's a long hot summer and Isleib's mysteries will keep you happily occupied.

Format: Mass Market Paperback
I love the Stephanie Plum, by Janet Evanovich, series and am always on the look out for similar novelists. Roberta Isleib easily hits the mark with the Cassie Burdette series. Fun situations, nutty but lovable characters, witty dialog, and soft boiled mystery make for a great read!

I am not a golfer, I think the game is a little silly. But the cast of characters is amazing and not disappointing. Ms. Isleib is a wonderful author and is pure joy to read.
