3.0 out of 5 stars Ten Years Later ...
It's almost exactly ten years ago that someone gave me *The Final Quest.* I still have my copy. From the first page ("The demonic army was so large that it stretched as far as I could see ...") to the last ("But love is My greatest weapon. Love will never fail. Love will be the power that destroys the works of the devil."), I have highlighted and underlined it, have put...

5.0 out of 5 stars Points to Christ and Christ alone, October 27, 1999
This review is from: The Final Quest (Hardcover)
I experienced the worst time in my life this past year. I was seeking healing from the most hurtful experience ever. I grew up in a wonderful strong biblical church that believes the "sign gifts" are no longer active today. However, as I've read scriture myself and asked the Holy Spirit to teach me (I John 2:27) beyond my presuppositions as He promises to do (John 16:13-14), the HS has been helping me understand that He is so much greater than my finite mind can imagine. It was during a 3-week sabbatical that I picked up this book. WOW! Did I ever enter the presence of God in a way I have never known. I have been a christian for 30+ years and been told by others that I know scripture extremely well (due to my incredible biblical heritage during my upbringing). But scripture has never come alive to me as it did after reading this book. The greatest healing in my life emotionally, spiritually and psychologically was through the Bible and how God used this prophetic book in my life. The theme throughout this book and Joyner's others is to draw people to know God, know His heart above all else. Due to the incredible conviction from the Holy Spirit, it took me days to read and re-read many parts, crying and repenting through issues, and deep excruciating self-examination and "God-examination" (Ps 139:23-24). The greatest revelation from God Himself showed me my deep-rooted pride and self-righteousness manifested in judgmentalism and a critical spirit. I have learned again, "Who am I to judge another." All through the books of James, I/II Peter, I Cor., Matt. 7:1-5, scripture commands us not to judge one another. It is part of the root of our fallen human nature: PRIDE. Oh how HE needs to increase and I must decrease. I recommend this book above any others I have read and due to the incredible drawing of my heart to know God's heart, the enemy would NEVER do this. It has proven it must be from God -- test the spirits as I John 4:1-4 talks about -- if he confesses Jesus as coming in the flesh, dying and rising again, which Joyner undoubtedly does, he is from God and NOT a false prophet. False prophets lead away from the one and only true God (Father, Son and HS) to anything else: self, the church, pride in knowing the bible or anything that takes the place of knowing HIM. I must fall on my face before HIM and thank HIM for how HE has healed my broken heart and restored me to a deeper relationship with HIM than I could have ever imagined. I ask for the Righteous Judge to judge my heart here and now, to know Him and hear His voice without Pride or self-righteousness. "THE CALL" is another must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth Coming Alive, May 30, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
My wife and I serve as foreign missionaries in capacities of discipleship and are often reading Christian books for both ourselves and for those we're trying to minister to. I usually have a stack of books waiting for me to read everytime I finish one more.
The Final Quest is one of only a very few books I've read for a second time. I even read it for a third time and plan to read it for a fourth.
This book is a description of a personal prophetic experience. Those who would say Joyner is placing emphasis on himself in much of the book are right. Theat's BECAUSE it's a prophetic experience in which God was brining correction into his life. It's to his credit that he opens up and becomes transparent to us as he lets us see sins and faults from his past.

Also, it's not meant as a book to establish doctrine. Joyner makes that clear in the intro. He's just trying to acurately report what he experienced. Joyner can't take the credit weather you like or hate the book. He's just stating what he saw and experienced. This book isn't about Joyner being a goo writter, creative or even a good teacher. It's in testimony format. One reporting what he sicerley believes God to have shown him

The reason I gave it a high mark, is because it's one of those books that helps you to see things from a diffrent persepective. It gives you a bit of a PARADIGM SHIFT. It helped me to see both the importance of love and humility I give five stars because it ministered to me and it helped me understand many verses that i thought i understood in a fresh and challenging light. I can truely say I'm more challenged and inspired to be a follower of Christ now in both loving devotion and humility.

Give the book a read. remeber what it is and what it is not meant to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly inspiring and enjoyable read, June 15, 2005
By
MJF (Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
The Final Quest was given to me as a gift, and I picked it up today intending to casually skim through a few passages. A couple of hours later, I turned the very last page with a strengthened resolve to love the Lord my God with all my heart. What more can you ask for?

Joyner's sincere heart and true desire to portray to the best of his human ability the truths God has illuminated in his own spirit shine through this book. It is a journey toward knowing God more intimately, beginning to see His limitless love and holiness, and allowing Him to work in your life.

I'm aware that this page has received its fair share of critical reviews, and I don't want to discredit their authors. But, let me say with all due respect and without trying to sound indignant, that I truly think you are missing the point. Never does Joyner claim that this book is in any way Scripture, and in fact states very plainly and emphatically that it is subject to interpretation and human error; I believe it to have been written with integrity and honesty.

All I really know at the end of the day is that God has used this book to minister to me and bring me a few steps closer in my relationship with Him. Hopefully, it will do the same for you. Many blessings!

5.0 out of 5 stars I've been changed, May 28, 2000
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
This book is awesome. It has helped me gain a better understanding of the spiritual realm. The part that impacted me the most was the scene at the throne of judgement. It made me look at myself and my life and see how much time I have wasted in selfish amibtion. The FINAL QUEST also gave me a greater appreciation for the "foundation" of the mountain. The preacher from LA wrote: The concepts related in this "vision"...2) qualify as "standing on a lower level" the Christian who seeks to honor Jesus Christ's command in the Great Commission... I disagree. The FINAL QUEST gave me a greater appreciation for those that "seek to honor..command in the Great Comission". In this vision, they are the FOUNDATION of the mountain. Salvation IS the foundation. Many Christians forget this commission from God in their quest for spiritual maturity and intimacy with Him. Besides growing in intmacy with God, "setting the captives free" is the most important thing God has called us to do.

As with anything, if you read this book with the intentions of criticizing, you will find things to criticize. But, if you read this book with the expectation of gaining knowledge to help you grow spiritually, you will be blessed. For God does want us to grow in our understanding and in our passion for Him. This book has "fanned the flames" in me to want to know God and His Son, our Bridegroom, in an even more intimate way, and to follow wholeheartedly after Jesus.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best books i've read, August 22, 2006
By
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
I'm a pastor, so I read a lot of Christian books by various publishing companies and authors. I can honestly say that his has been oneof the most helpful books that I have ever read in challenging me to live more like Jesus and to stay connected with him through Bible study and prayer. Far from putting down the scriptures, this "prophetic word" elevates them and describes them with great glory. He states at the begginning that if you think that anything he says is contrary to scripture, believe the scripture! Challenged me to walk before God with greater humility and love for others.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Final Quest, April 27, 2000
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
No Christian book has impacted my life like the Final Quest. Reading this book crystalized God's Truth in areas I've struggled with for years. I also experienced increasing hunger for God and His Word. I really believe this vision was real, because the wisdom, insite and revelation that comes forth through these pages, not only glorifies Jesus Christ, but is based completely on God's Word. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ FOR ANYONE THAT WANTS TO GO DEEPER WITH GOD.

5.0 out of 5 stars This books asks "how removed from God are you?", August 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
This book makes one realize that it is one's self that distances himself from God. God does not distance himself from us, we do it to ourselves by carrying around our pride, self-righteous judgment and jealousy just to name a few. This book is outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metaphorically Perfect, December 10, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
There are few words deemable as worthy to discribe this book. Only the scriptures bring more truth to life than this vision. Mortal imagination cannot be responsible for the way it reaches through the pages and grabs your collar and forces you to read on. I read the entire book in one night after starting at around 9:00 pm and reading the last word at 1:30 am. The next day people could see a difference in the way I walked and talked and it was not form exhaustion. I was completely caught up in the things that I had experienced the night before. I was literally taken into and completely consumed by it's power and I was never more grateful. I believe I have learned the secret to a successful life according to God and not man. I have recommended the book to all my friends and they are all just as captivated as I was. It has spurred an unbelievable interest in learning more from God's word. Viewing life from this new vantage point has opened my eyes to the truths of the Word of God and I will never be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the Truth, November 21, 2005
This review is from: The Final Quest (Paperback)
Being nearly finished with the Final Quest I was doing an online search for the 2nd book and came across these reviews. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that there is an outlash against his revelatory message. It's pretty plain to me that those crying the loudest against the book are those that the book speaks against--ha! The bickering and trying to find fault and fighting against the truth is something that sadly falls mostly to those who think they do God service. It was the religous leaders of Jesus' day who had him crucified, it was the Inquisition who persecuted the true followers. It was the leaders of the so-called church who would burn as heretics those who would read and memorize the translated Scriptures. Just look at history, and you will find an endless line of persecution of the true followers, by the established religous order. I thought this was brought out very well in the revelation that Rick Joyner had. I too, when reading the book felt some of Mr. Joyner's pride, and perhaps false humility--hey, he said he had that problem, so what's the beef? But I am not looking at the man, but the message. What the book did for me was wonderful. It has made me more serious about my work and life for the Lord. --and I am a missionary who is already serving God. The book didn't make me want to go seek out Mr. Joyner, it didn't make me want to go buy a cabin from him as one of the reviews accused, all it did was convict and inspire me. I believe it was a true revelation and wonderful. The arguments against it are very sad as they are a reflection of where the so-called church is at today. One argument was that Rick was giving false hope and basically read that we could not hope to attain to the height and level of the early Christians, or outdo the miracles of that bygone age. Well, with that attitude we excuse ourselves for not doing anything, because, afterall, it's impossible. It's not for us, it was for those saintly heros of the past and we certainly couldn't be expected to live up to those standards today?! Well, first of all, those saintly prophets of the past, weren't all so saintly. They were men of like passions and blew it just like we do. They were weak men and women--like YOU! Hey, well, most people aren't very comfortable with that, because that means if they were just like us, then there's no excuse for us not doing more. --Yes, that's the truth, there is no excuse for not doing more. And whether or not it's you who is going to do the more or not, is your loss or gain. But the "more--and greater miracles" will happen. Unless you dont believe the Scripture and what is prepared for us to do in the last days. Just don't look for it to come from the main established religous order of today, because it won't--it never has. But you can be part of "the people who do know their God, shall be strong and do explits" and "they that understand among the people, shall be wise and instruct many" --both scriptures dealing with the endtime. Your greatest protection in the endtime battle will be to be busy for the Lord--witnessing and winning souls, and staying in communication with Him. Learn to hear from Him constantly--ask Him everything, and let Him be that voice behind you saying, this is the way, walk ye in it--when you turn to the right hand or to the left. In otherwords, He can and wants to speak to you full time. It's wonderful, because with Jesus as your guide you can't go wrong (as long as you follow what He shows). --Anyway, back to the book. I felt it was also very good in that it showed the various levels of heaven. One reviewer didn't like that point and stated that after salvation it was works all the way. Well, that's sort of true. Not that the works are works of the flesh (which profit nothing), but we still need His grace and anointing to really accomplish anything for Him anyway. Salvation is a free gift that only requires receiving--Your rewards in Heaven though, do definitely depend on what you do for him past that point. But also as the revelation brought out, so-called working for God, that just ministers to our pride or own needs, won't amount for much there. I was commenting today to a fellow missionary that I was really inspired and amazed that I hadn't found anything false at all so far (and I'm on the last couple of pages) in the whole book. I for one, feel that Rick Joyner's revelation is authentic and true and given by Jesus. It is inspiring! I believe that it is one that we can all profit from, and I believe that those who find fault with it and pick it apart should check their own pride level and ask themselves if they are fighting against God. (forget Rick--take him out of the equation--but if the Lord did give this revelation--which I am convinced He did--then learn and benefit from it. Forget Rick, and think about the Lord and the truth and apply it to yourself. Imagine that you are the one going through those things, not Rick. Because it could have just as well been you.
