Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

First came The Dark Portal, then The Crystal Prison. Now, Robin Jarvis winds up the Deptford Mice Trilogy with The Final Reckoning. In this volume, evil sewer cat Jupiter comes back from the dead to wreak havoc on the innocent; the Deptford Mice endure the murder of friends and allies and the theft of the irreplaceable Starglass. Ages 10-up.

From School Library Journal

Grade 6-8-Jupiter, the malevolent cat, has returned from the dead, and only the Deptford Mice can foil his plot to extinguish the sun and freeze the world. The rodents, their allies (squirrels and bats), and their enemies (wicked rats) inhabit modern London, where the outcome of their epic battle will affect the oblivious human beings whose buildings, parks, and ships provide the setting for this unusually dark animal fantasy. Fans of the mice will find plenty of what they expect in this conclusion: lots of action, lots of gore, a large cast of characters, and a truly evil antihero. Readers new to the trilogy should start at the beginning; without the background of the earlier books, they will lack an understanding of several plot points. The series is a natural for older, more stouthearted devotees of Brian Jacques's "Redwall" novels (Philomel).

4.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing (yet confusing) Story, December 28, 2004
A Kid's Review
The third book in the Depford Mice series is amazingly well-written, and a definate page-turner. There is action, adventure, fantasy, and even some romance in it. I dropped a star because of the constant character-to-character jumps, and the slightly hard-to-follow plotline. Otherwise, thsi is a must-read series that rivals the Redwall and Warriors series.

This review is from: The Final Reckoning (The Deptford Mice, Book 3) (Paperback)
This was a wonderful trilogy. It was very exciting and never dull. It was very real life with characters dying that you didn't want to see go. I think the arthur ties up all the stories very well.
