3.0 out of 5 stars This is what I get for letting my heart win
It's not bad, per say, but...it's just not the Hayley Williams I'm used to hearing.

She sounds much more deep & throaty than the studio recordings...and hey, if I was on tour, I totally would lower it an octave, too! Singing at studio level on tour would wreck her voice. But regardless of excuse, the result is the same: her voice comes off more like a Lady Gaga...

5.0 out of 5 stars STEELYHAN, November 27, 2008
This review is from: The Final Riot! (Audio CD)
The cd is awesome. You feel like you are at the concert again. Everything you loved about the live versions are in here. Hayley's vocals are great. If youve ever been to a show you know that she runs, jumps around and headbangs the whole time and it's incredible that her voice can still sound so good. The crowd sings the lyrics A LITTLE, not half of the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Live Show EVER!, December 26, 2008

This review is from: The Final Riot! (Audio CD)
This LIVE DVD/CD is the best live set I have ever heard from any band EVER! I thought the show I attended in Orlando could not be beat, but Paramore really outdid themselves. Hayley's vocals on "We Are Broken" are simply AMAZING and it was the best rendition she has done. This band is spunky, fresh, and very talented. I hope they continue rocking and I am undoubtedly a fan for life.

Best tracks: Let The Flames Begin, CrushCrushCrush, When It Rains, My Heart, We Are Broken, Hallelujah, and Emergency!!!

Well done 2 CD set. I attended the same concert at the central park with my 12 year old daughter. This young group is talented, vibrant and mature including social issues such as child sexual abuse as a cause is just very heart-warming. DVD with behind the scene is well done. Music and lyrics are excellent.

In short: If you're a Paramore fan, buy this.

"The Final Riot!" is really something that you should watch on DVD before you listen to the CD (if you didn't know, this comes with both a CD and a DVD). I made the mistake of listening to the CD first, and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed even though I really like Paramore's studio albums. The problem I had was how vocalist Hayley Williams points the mic at the crowd for them to sing a line or two; she does this for probably 8 or 9 of the 15 tracks on the CD. The crowd isn't mixed in very well....you can barely hear them, so for some songs there can just be 5 to 10 seconds of near-silence where there should be singing ("Pressure" is probably the worst offender in that regard).

But then I watched it on DVD, and my whole opinion of this CD/DVD changed. While watching the concert, the "pointing the mic towards the crowd" parts didn't bother me at all (now they don't even bother me when I listen to the CD either)...the crowd's still a little hard to hear though. The crowd was good but like I said earlier, I think the volume just wasn't mixed very well.

So I've basically just complained so far, but I still gave this 5 stars. What gives? Well, Paramore is an awesome live band. Watching the 15-song concert (which runs about 70 minutes) more than makes up for whatever shortcomings this CD/DVD has. For the most part, they sound just as good (in some cases better) than they do on their studio albums. Paramore really seems like a band that gives it their all every night and never just goes through the motions. They're all very energetic, but the sound doesn't suffer for it.

I know the band isn't thrilled when Hayley gets all the attention, but she's the well-deserved star of the band. That's not a knock against the guys because they're all good, but she just goes above and beyond what they do. On their high-energy songs she's always running, jumping, and headbanging yet somehow her voice doesn't really suffer for it. Then there are a few slow songs where she's just standing or sitting playing the keyboard and...holy crap, she's a GREAT singer.

I do have some really minor gripes with the setlist -- I would've preferred "Franklin" or "All We Know" over "Here We Go Again", for example. But hey, it's impossible for any band to make a setlist that will please all of their fans. Most of it's good though -- they play every song off of "Riot!" except for "Miracle", four songs off of "All We Know is Falling", and the b-side "Decoy" (which is a song I really like). The intro to Paramore's "Hallelujah" is a cover of Leonard Cohen's song of the same name, and Hayley does an outstanding job with it. I'd say the standout track on The Final Riot! is definitely "Let the Flames Begin". Their studio recording of that song wasn't one of my favorite tracks off of Riot, but the way they perform it live has to be seen. The amount of energy they put into it, especially for the outro, is insane.

The DVD includes the full concert with clips of interviews with the band. The way it's originally intended to be watched, it shows you a few minutes of an interview before going to the concert for a couple songs, then back to the interviews, etc. Thankfully you also have the option to just watch the interviews uninterrupted (I think they total about 40 minutes or so) or just watch the concert uninterrupted. The concert itself is split up by song; you can either watch the whole thing or just jump to your favorite song in the middle if you want.

The interview portion of the DVD is fine, but it's more or less just the band talking about what it's like to be on tour. This part probably isn't something that you'll watch over and over again. That said, watching the interviews will probably just make you like the band even more. Every person in the band seems to be really likable and down-to-earth. This is a band that's gone platinum, but I got the impression that they really haven't let success inflate their egos. They still seem legitimately surprised at how big they've gotten.

After watching this, I'm not at all surprised that the band has accumulated so many fans across the world. I get the feeling that they aren't going to be a flash-in-the-pan band like some of their Fueled By Ramen labelmates were. I think Paramore's here to stay, and that's pretty awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for any Paramore fan., February 18, 2009
This review is from: The Final Riot! (Audio CD)
Paramore is a great live band, and you can see why in The Final Riot! Not only does it contain live concert footage, but interspersed with the songs are clips of the band as it travels around the country. It's genuinely funny and a great insight into life on tour.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Live Performance, February 16, 2009
This review is from: The Final Riot! (Audio CD)
I enjoyed watching The Final Riot DVD, it felt like I was there (I only wish I could have been). The documentary footage was also a blast to watch, it gave the band a chance to explain themselves to the fans as well as showing what they go through while being on tour. I even love the CD so much that I listen to it almost everyday!
