I'm from Shawntel's hometown of Chico so of course I watched her on the Bachelor and rooted for her! She inspired me to look into the funeral industry as a possible career. I am a psychology major so I thought I might be able to use what I've learned in my classes as a funeral director since they really are like grief counselors. I loved all her stories about her career, some were very sad but some were uplifting. She has met so many great people through her profession, my favorite was an 88 year old woman she met. Some of her stories made me laugh out loud, I don't want to give anything away but you'll probably laugh too ;) You're not really going to read any juicy details from the show but I wasn't surprised by that, it would be out of character for her to be gossipy like that as we learned from her classy behavior on the show. I was sad to read that people wrote negative things about her and she would read them and they affected her so much. I think her job is cool and she's even cooler. What a brave woman for putting her story out there! The good and the bad. I recommend it and have already convinced 3 other people to read it as well!

I have to admit that I read the book in one sitting. It isn't that long, yet it still had depth to her life and career. Shawntel gave insight into the funeral profession with factual details and anecdotes (some of which actual made me teary eyed). It is written as if you were sitting in a coffee shop with her and this is the story she was telling you. I couldn't stop talking about it for days after I read it. Highly recommend this book.

What a delightful book. A nice blend of finding romance, the family business, and her personal journey to a vocation that was close to her heart. I have had the pleasure of meeting Shawntel recently. She is a beautiful woman with a wonderful soul. Her stories dealing with "families on the worst day of their lives" are very heartfelt and infomative. She helps to answer "what happens to loved ones after their final breath and before an ending of cremation or internment". We all wonder but can never fathom and certainly don't want to envision that moment for our loved ones or self. I only hope when my time comes, I have a wonderful person like Shawntel to help me and my family with this journey. I recommend this book whole-heartedly. God Bless you Shawntel.
