The therapists are real people who openly share their lives with us, with all of their ups and downs.

Don't get me wrong: I know that reality shows are staged and cast and carefully edited.

This show was created and filmed for informative entertainment. The shrinks and clients are cast. The clients were cast based on their presenting problems and willingness to share them on TV. They were then matched to the shrinks that were most likely to identify/treat/are dealing with/have dealt with similar problems in their own lives. Then the producers amplify everything to make good TV. Good/interesting TV doesn't just happen - producers have to get in the kitchen and make things happen with the right ingredients. Sure parts may seem a little out there and some parts are not even close to what some therapists' have witnessed. The show has to be tame enough to be palatable for wide range of audiences and interesting enough to keep viewers watching. I feel they have created a happy balance and will keep watching for now.

As a therapist, I was enthusiastic about a new "reality show" focused on my profession. I found it interesting when the show focused on the lives on the psychologist. Just don't think this is how the typical shrink in LA lives. I was distracted by the obviously fake patient sessions talking about their partner's genitalia and other graphic sexual information. This felt like filler, and was quite tedious...I wish they focused more on the psychologist's personal lives outside work and their reasons for entering the profession. In addition, I would be surprised in the cast of the show still have their licenses by the end of season 1. If I was in their position, I wouldn't want to be filmed while using excessive profanity or laying in a bathtub naked. Overall, this is a decent show that has plenty of room for improvement in future episodes.

This show is amazing! I am a counselor and I love every episode. It may seem crazy over the top that clients are the way they are portrayed, but it off-camera, it can get really out-there! They talk about real problems. I watched this season in 2 days!

Utterly forgettable. I can't even really remember it that well. There are shrinks dealing with issues in their own personal lives, but the show overall feels too staged. Don't get me wrong: I know that reality shows are staged and cast and carefully edited. But at least shows like the Bachelorette have high production values and travel to exotic locations, and lower budget reality shows like Storage Wars feel like a wonderful guilty pleasure. This show just misses the mark.

I will admit that I only began watching this show because I went to school with Dr. Eris, but I am really entertained by it! Can't wait to see next week's episode!
