Product Description

With this fantastic set of ice molds you get all of the benefits of an ice ball maker, four times over. If you're wondering what's so great about giant ice balls, just think back to science class. The sizable frozen spheres have less surface area than a glass of smaller cubes, so they melt slower. That means they're able to chill your drink and delay the evil diluting effects of melting long enough for you to enjoy your cocktail. No one likes watered down booze, so do yourself a favor and make the transition from fast-melting ice cubes to giant, beverage-saving ice balls. Thousands of fancy cocktail bars can't be wrong. In stock and ready to ship. Features: Made of durable long lasting silicone. Each mold makes 1 ice ball. Easy-to-see fill line helps to create a solid ice ball. Larger surface area ensures ice melts more slowly. Ideal for cocktails, liquors, and cold beverages of all kinds. Get creative and add fruit pieces or food coloring for a fun twist. Makes a great gift. Specs: Ice Ball Size: 2" Diameter. Includes: (4) Ice Ball Silicone Molds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to make ice balls March 24, 2012

I bought this set of 4 (flexible silicon) ice ball molds for my husband / bartender-extraordinaire. They work great. The molds come in 2 pieces each which fit together snugly. It takes a little bit of tugging on the silicon mold to get the ball of ice out once its frozen, but I haven't had any problems. I didn't need to run them under water, either, which I didn't really want to do, so was glad to see I could pull the mold pieces off the ice w/o that. There is a fill line marked on each an a little hole at the top to allow for ice to overflow. I found that the fill line is pretty accurate and have been able to make pretty consistent round balls. The bottom part of the mold has a little flat area so that it can sit flat & level in the freezer (the flat area is only on the outside, the inside of the mold is still round).

I like that they are 4 separate molds, instead of one big one connected together, which allows me to tuck them individually in small open areas in my small freezer.

I freeze up a batch, pop them out, then put the balls in a ziploc for use later, and then can make another batch.

1.0 out of 5 stars silicone ice ball molds May 11, 2012

I had high hopes the Jumbo Ice Ball Silicone Molds (package of 4) would be an ideal way to serve cocktails. Unfortunately I was and am very disappointed in the product. Repeatedly I am unable to easily extract the ice ball from the molds. All too often the ice ball looks like a ragged piece of ice rather than a beautiful ice ball. This is the first product I've every reviewed on Amazon that didn't come close to measuring up to my expectations. I do not recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn cool July 13, 2012

I had never thought of something like an ice ball until I was served a fancy whiskey cocktail at a fancy restaurant. I was intrigued and on a mission to find out how to do this myself.

Well, I stumbled across these and they seemed like the best deal on Amazon...I mean, you get 4 molds (most others I found only came with 1 or 2). I was a little worried about being able to get the ice balls out of the molds once done as other reviews have complained about this. The way around this is DO NOT just take off the white part and try to extract the ball from the bottom part! This is why it's difficult because the bottom is not as flexible. Instead, when you take it out of the freezer, hold the white part firmly in your hand (upside down) and TWIST the color bottom as you squeeze the white top. That way, the ball falls into the top white portion and can just drop out. If for some reason the ball stays stuck on the bottom (colored) part of the mold, use a blunt knife (like a regular kitchen knife but nothing sharp) to gently pry the silicon edges away from the ball...it should fall out easily after this.

I love these! The flat bottom means they don't roll around in the freezer and they're easy to fill (even have a little fill line). You have to make sure that they're snapped securely or you'll have a mess on your hands but other than that, I'm so glad I bought these. I make all 4 at once then put them in a tupperware in the freezer and repeat in case I have a larger party. Very cool- can't wait to use the ice balls!

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the package June 6, 2012

My first encounter with a mold for making ice balls for cocktails was a gift from Maker's Mark. A two-piece mold made of rigid plastic with space for four ice balls, it was practically impossible to use - simple physics says you can't flex the surface of a sphere away from itself unless the material has some "give," so while you might get the top of the mold off, getting the balls out of the bottom half was always a struggle and usually involved half-melting them with water. Getting only one ice ball, if you didn't need all four, ensured the rest were a mess anyway.

These molds do what they say - they make four separate ice balls, well-sized for cocktails (OK a little bigger would be ideal but these still work), and because they're flexible silicone, you can pry the ice balls loose without too much hassle. Just make sure the tops are on securely before you fill them so there's no leaking.

These are a real treat to have stashed in my freezer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ice cube alternative! August 17, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
When I was debating on whether to buy this product, I was skeptical - would the ice be difficult to remove from the mold? would they leak where the mold connects together? No and No! This has been working just as promised and no trouble removing the ice. Don't fill above the fill line though - water will freeze out of the top and get on other items in the freezer.

Other benefits:
- The molds don't take up nearly as much space in your freezer as some of the other ice ball molds out there
- The ice melts slower (more mass than surface area)
- They don't make your ice taste like plastic or leave little particles floating around
- They're very cute - the molds and the ice balls!

The molds were a bit smaller than I had hoped they would be, but they formed a nice seal, and worked quite well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and effective. July 13, 2012

They definitely work as described, melting slower and keeping drinks cold longer. The only knock I have is that the "fill line" isn't accurate. Filling to the line will leave a big flat spot on the top of the sphere. Filling too much gives it a knob. You have to play with it to get it just right.
