As the crowd of one-hundred-and-fifty gathered around Calvin, he began to speak softly, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."
Leasa Moore stepped up next to Calvins truest friend and faithful companion, Cory Parker. She slid her small black hand into Corys huge palm and squeezed it lightly. He smiled at her through his own tears but said nothing. What could he say? What could any of them really say since the damage was done? Life had changed so drastically over the last three and a half years, and now it was only going to get worse.
"People," said Calvin, "from today forward we have one task and that is to find every person we can who has not taken the mark of the beast, Carlo Ventinis ID tag.
We need to organize and break into smaller groups and scour the United States in search of other believers and unite as we preach Gods words. We are Gods final witnesses to the world. The end is coming soon." The air around Calvin and his group of followers was boiling hot, but this would not last. Soon the earth would cool down to an unbelievable level. The air was acidic, and it left a bitter taste in their mouths as they walked back towards the mines entrance, where they had been so graciously protected from the barrage of hot, explosive pieces of asteroid debris.
Simon awoke in his private chambers in the United World Organization building just north of Rome. "What a tremendous nights sleep," he thought to himself. "The only thing that was missing was a woman." They had gotten back from Jerusalem so late that he did not have time to order up one, but he would correct that situation tonight. "We are gods," he spoke loudly to himself. Oh, how sweet it was to see Joseph and Yvettes heads lopped off at the altar. Simon smiled at the thought. Deacons Horn had been a real nuisance and a thorn in his side, but that was ancient history. This morning only one thought perturbed his mind and that was of Peter Bastoni, Josephs brother. This man had developed an antidote to fight off the plague that he and Carlo had planted around the world. Peter had stolen their glory. It was they who were supposed to come to the rescue of the sick and dying, but now even this fact had been turned against Peter. Simon made sure that the world saw all that !
Peter and the other scientists did as evil. He had created a huge deception blaming them for the plague itself and suggesting that they developed their own antidote to make themselves look good. This lie of Simons really had worked well, and now not only were all of the Christians of the world hated, but also any associated scientist was hated and maybe even more so. The thought reminded Simon that he had two other scientists to go in search of as well. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This review is from: The Final Witness (The Last Gentile Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
I fell this is a very accomplished writer, we will read great books from him. This book The Final Witness is as good as the first. That is a relief so many series do not follow throw. I would never have believed that this is my kind of thriller, but i'm going to tell you something-the more I read, the more I had to read. In THe Final Witness Cary Bybee has built a world that is rich in fasinating detail, and I could not get enought of it. I am your fan.

Strong writing right through to the end. Bybee's strength is his scientific postulating of how the Tribulation judgments will be manifested. Cause and effect were very interesting. Bybee has storylines going all around the world and in orbit of all places. The gospel is preached. Some characters leave the scene without firm indication of what happened to them.... gets one to think. Carlo the Antichrist and Simon are maybe a bit wooden and a little bit like Klink and Schultz of Hogan's Heroes at times. Still it was an exciting read. Just as good as Left Behind and certainly more intellectually challenging as nature self-destructs these last seven years. Start another trilogy, Cary !!

If you like end of times fiction, then you will love this because it is by far the best I have ever read. It is Biblically accurate and full of thrilling events, romance, and suspense.I highly recommend it
