Superb software, lousy book., June 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Finale Primer: Mastering the Art of Music Notation with Finale (Paperback)
The Finale Primer is a waste. If you purchased Finale 98, the book that comes with it is nearly identical, so I now have virtually the same book twice. Also, it is very poorly indexed and cross-referenced, resulting in much frustration as I try to find assistance on various topics. You are much better off saving your money and using the original manual and HELP screens.

Very Mac-centric, May 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Finale Primer: Mastering the Art of Music Notation with Finale (Paperback)
The book is very Mac-centric. While a few charts include windows key commands all screen shots are Mac screens and look VERY diferent from Finale98 for Windows. Only in guitar chord creation does this book venture past the online and in-the-box documentation of the program itself.

Purse Brilliantly presents Finale as an easy to master art., July 20, 1998
This review is from: The Finale Primer: Mastering the Art of Music Notation with Finale (Paperback)
Bill Purse brilliantly presents Finale as an easy to master art-form. As a teacher of music technology, The Finale Primer presents an "easy-to-understand" guide to the most powerful notation software ever produced. I use it in all of my classes.

The book, yes. Finale Software, no, April 21, 1999

The book is fine, but... I am EXTREMELY upset about the way Finale nags you to put in the CD all the time. Who does Coda think they are? I keep my CD loaded with Microsoft tech net, or an encyclopedia. This is very bothersome. Can you name any software company on the planet earth that is so distrustful of its customers?
