You know how in a romantic comedy, the girl gets the guy in about 1:40 minutes? If that's not your story, this book is for you. Cheryl has turned her journey of pain, rejection, and the endless wait for a soul mate into a book filled with humor, rawness, truth, and most of all, hope.
-Rene Gutteridge (co-author Never the Bride)

I feel like Cheryl and I could be best friends from the things she write in her book.
So Grateful
And any time an author shares real journal entries with their readers I know the story is going to be good, genuine, heartfelt.
If you are a single woman waiting for God to write your love story, then you absolutely HAVE to read this book.

If you're a single woman, you need to get this book! But I'll also say that men can gain a lot from this book as well (and there's a chapter at the end of the book that's addressed specifically to you). I downloaded the Kindle version yesterday and read it straight through in one sitting. I rarely do that. Cheryl's gift of communicating the difficulties of being single for a long period of time when you desire to be married, is so great. She gets VERY real with you in sharing her journal entries to God about why He's taking so long in delivering the love of her life. Her lists are hysterical (because you think she read your mind as she typed them). I found myself laughing one minute and my eyes welling up the next. I haven't felt everything she has felt, but I could relate to so many things. What a great gift to myself to buy this book... I encourage you to do the same.

Yes this is a book about singleness but it's more than that. It's Cheryl's story. (Yes. Cheryl. First names now because I feel as they we are kindred spirits now after reading this book!)

The book is broken up into her story and what she has learned and her thoughts on single life. The first half of the book features excerpts from her journals, lists she made, and practical advice from her own life. The second half of the book is written later and shares her story to finding the guy of her dreams. It also features a surprise chapter by her husband and some fun stories from others.

I laughed and I cried through this book.

Cheryl has a way of telling a story that makes you feel like she is telling it to you over tea on the back porch.

The book is never preachy and is full of light bulb moments where you say...Me too. I am so glad I am not alone!

Cheryl shares her own very personal story through her journal entries and funny stories that will have you cringing and laughing and too!

From the beginning you get a glimpse of her heart and you can see a woman who loves God and yet wants that earthly mate too. How many of us single gals can relate to that?

It took me months to read this book because God used it to do a big work in my heart dealing with my singleness.

You see I was losing hope and losing it fast. I was tired of waiting and tired of trusting.

Cheryl's authentic vulnerability helped me open my heart and He began to work within it. The way Cheryl invites you into her innermost heart moments with Him... and you see how deeply she loves Him and He loves is moving. Through out the book you are challenged and encouraged in your own realationship with God.

I'm a 33 year old single woman who has read almost every Christian single book out there, but this was the first book I read that really seemed to delve into the raw, aching questions I throw at God year after single year, and helped me not feel alone in doing so. Cheryl is honest, frank, sweet, and vulnerable through each page of Finally the Bride. While I think any single person could be encouraged by this book, it's definitely a must read for single women who have already crossed the 30 year point and feel like hope is fading.

I was super hesitant to read it at first because who wants to read about a 38 year old woman who is still single when you're already 33 and feel like the door is already closing, and the thought that God could make you keep waiting another 5 or 6 years makes you want to sit in a fetal position and cry, but I am so grateful I downloaded it onto my Kindle and read it (even though it took me two months to work up the courage to hear what she had to say).

It's a fresh perspective on a subject that is becoming more and more prevalent as people, especially Christians, take longer to settle down. It's a reminder to keep God first in your life, whether married or single, but not to stop hoping, praying, and seeking God to meet the desires of your heart. Sometimes He does it in ways you don't expect!

I'm not the typical single Christian woman who would normally read this book as I've spent my entire life never wanting to be married and revelling (by my standards any way)in my singleness. Deep down I believed the lie that God used marriage as a "bait and switch or rug pull" on us trusting Christian gals and before you know it you're dependent on your hubbie(read "controlled by").

However, age 40 hit and suddenly God started to prompt me about a soul mate and I started to ask as author Cheryl McKay puts it, "Where's my fix it guy or nurse? and "Who'll walk me to my car at night?". I even started dreaming about weddings and babies. Yikes!

Don't get me wrong. I grew up on fairy tales and I love a good rom-com or sappy love story (I've even tried writing a few) but it all just never felt right or real to me.

I wanted to hear from God clearly on the matter of my singleness and this new yearning but I had no clue on how to practically proceed. I joined a book club for Christian women at the same crossroads who were battling the dreaded "gift of singleness" and Cheryl McKay's book, Finally the Bride became our "how-to" guide to getting it done.

This book finally made me understand how to be intimate with God in my romantic life and on all things. I learned to love and trust God again and to let Him date and romance me (Chapter 6). Yes, God is the true lover of my soul! Without this I wouldn't have been able to trust God as I do now much less trust and love any future earthly husband.

Finally the Bride has released me to trust and to allow God to write my love story, after all, He knows how it should end. Now I meet guys without stress and without questions like "Is he the one?". Now time is no longer my enemy and God certainly isn't.
