Da Bomb!,

This review is from: Finally (Audio CD)
When this album dropped in '92, I thought that it was "all that and a bag of chips"! I still do.
Rolling out of Phoenix, Ce Ce was a refreshing, upbeat change from Mary J Blige, who was hitting the airwaves around the same time. "Keep on Walking" is one of the tunes that pumps you up wit a tight hook. I still remember the video! "Finally" celebrates finding the 'one'. But I think the real gem on this album (and I'm crazy about all of the tunes) is "Inside That I Cried", a true ballad of regret and remorse expertly delivered. If you want the best of Ce Ce Peniston, this is the album to get. Unfortunately, her subsequent efforts did not even come close to this gem. "Some people listen to remember, some people listen to forget"!

I bought this album quite a while ago and it has stood the test of time. It's very dance-able, has cute lyrics, and I would definitely recommend it if you like this type of music.

One Hit Wonder? No Way,
By P (Miami, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Finally (Audio CD)
CeCe Peniston was much more than just a single called "Finally". When she appeared on the scene in late 1991, she was one of the first mainstream divas to incorporate the sounds of house into her music. An unofficial revival of disco, house had previously thrived in the underground (...)dance scene. The album "Finally" is wonderful, with several strong tracks and an introduction to CeCe's infectious personality and unforgettable rhythms. Her only mistake was moving away from her house roots on her follow-up albums, which alienated fans who were delighted and content with her role as one of the greatest dance divas of all time. No way was CeCe a one hit wonder. She released other excellent singles from 1992 to 1994 like We Got A Love Thang, Inside That I Cried, I'm Not Over You, Keep On Walkin, I'm In The Mood, and the triumphant revisit to her house roots with the tracks Hit By Love (1996) and He Luvs Me 2 (2001). Don't speak ill of an artist when you don't know your music history!
