4.0 out of 5 stars Lorrie and Sammy at their finest?
I've owned this CD since it came out over a year ago and I just decided to start posting reviews on this CD, among others. Lorrie has such a pure distinct voice that it's a shame she is without a doubt one of the most underrated country singers of all time. Sammy also has such a distinct voice and I find the two are able to pull off an amazing duet. So good, that a CD...

2.0 out of 5 stars buy it used not worth the money
Sammy and Lorrie both have wonderful voices, however this Cd is not worth the money. I seen Sammy in concert and went right to the store for this CD well little did I know the best song on it is SUGAR. ( Sammy solo)It is clear why you don't hear songs from it played on radio stations. Save your money and wait for Sammy's new release in the spring of 2002. Anyone want to...

So good, that a CD chocked full of duets was no problem for these two. 'He Drinks Tequila' obviously steals the album as far as the 'fun & fast' song goes while 'I Finally Found Someone' holds the 'slow ballad' of sorts top spot. Other lead songs include 3 Seconds, 29 Again, Sad City, Big Time, & Sugar. Overall, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars simply because Sammy's voice seems to be lacking in a few of the solo songs. It's a must have for either Sammy fans or Lorrie fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars When they were happy together, January 4, 2004
This review is from: I Finally Found Someone (Audio CD)
This album was recorded when Lorrie and Sammy were a happy couple. They had an acrimonious divorce a couple of years later so it seems unlikely that they ever collaborate musically again, although (to quote the title of a Ronnie Milsap song) stranger things have happened. The album contains six duets, three Lorrie solos and three Sammy solos.

The title track is one of the duets and is a cover of a song that was originally recorded by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams. It clearly reflects Lorrie and Sammy's relationship at the time, as do the other duet ballads, I can't think of anything but you, Be my reason and That's where I'll be.. He drinks tequila is an up-tempo, fun song to get those toes tapping. Even more fun is the closing duet, 3 seconds, which takes a light-hearted look at infidelity and is reminiscent of Porter and Dolly's duets of thirty years earlier, particularly Run that by me one more time.

Lorrie's solos are Big time (a fine up-tempo song), 29 again (a thoughtful song in which Lorrie deludes herself about her age on her birthday) and I must be getting older (another excellent reflective song). Sammy's solos are What a wonderful world (a cover a classic song - not everybody likes Sammy's cover, but I do), Sad city (a lonesome ballad) and Sugar (an up-tempo rocking song).

This is a fine example of contemporary country at the start of the new millennium.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet, October 31, 2002

This review is from: I Finally Found Someone (Audio CD)
I think this is one of the best CD's to ever come out. Both Lorrie and Sammy are just great and every song is done with such passion. Of course my favorite is My Reason. It's so true. Everyone needs someone and I am very happy they found each other. Keep up the great work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lorrie Morgan & Sammy Kershaw: "I Finally Found Someone", April 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: I Finally Found Someone (Audio CD)
I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this album. I even bought two of these CD's - one for home & one for the car. I love every track on the CD. I think Lorrie & Sammy sound great together and separately as well. I especially like "29 again", "I Must Be Getting Older" and "I Finally Found Someone". But again, all of the tracks are really good. It is my hope that Lorrie has finally found the someone who is truly right for her and that this time, her upcoming marriage will last forever. I also hope this album spawns many hits for this dynamic duo! A+++++++++++++++++++++++++

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!, April 21, 2001

I am a huge Lorrie Morgan fan. I think she is by far the best female vocalist in "modern day" country music. I think it is a crime the [stuff] that is on country radio today. We are tired of the same type of songs by Tim, Faith and George Strait. There is no diversity in country music anymore. Its basically the same type of song constantly. I think radio should embrace Lorrie once again. I will admit I was disappointed in her last two efforts which were My Heart and To Get To You. I do really like this new CD. I like Sammy Kerhsaw, but not his biggest fan. But there duets are beautiful. The standouts are I Finally Found Someone, I Cant Think Of Anything But You, He Drinks Tequila. The solos by Lorrie are great. I hope RCA has the common sense to release 29 Again as Lorrie's next single. It is very powerful work. I Must Be Gettin Older is a Lorrie composition. It is good work too. The third song Big Time is very catchy. All in all, I think it is a good effort. I would recommend this CD to anyone. I am glad Lorrie and Sammy are engadged, I wish them the best. THEY NEED TO MAKE A MUSIC VIDEO!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars LORRIE AND SAMMY HAVE TRULY FOUND EACH OTHER!, April 17, 2001

I have waited so long for this excellent new album by 2 of the best artists to ever come into country music!!!! I have been a fan of Lorrie for years and years and think she is the MOST UNDERRATED female singer in country music!!! She is graceful, humourous, brave, and MY GOSH...WHAT A VOICE SHE HAS! Sammy Kershaw I have come to really admire over the last couple years. So to know that after a live appearance singing Tammy Wynette and George Jones' duets duet to yet another no show from George Shones 20 years ago and their smash single MAYBE NOT TONIGHT, they have recorded a new album of 6 duets and 3 solo tracks by each artist. They have covered Bryan Adams and Barbra Streisand's hit I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE with great poise as their voices melt into each other like a river flowing to the sea. The highlights on the album are I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE, BE MY REASON, 29 AGAIN (solo by Lorrie), and HE DRINKS TEQUILA. I reccommend to anyone who likes these singers as solo artists, to buy this album and witness the magic they create together! They were also on REGIS AND KELLY this morning and gave a great interview and performance singing I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE and closing the show with HE DRINKS TEQUILA and admitted they are engaged and will be married on September 29, 2001!! I wish them all the happiness life can offer! They have been through tough times and deserve bliss!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good First Effort, October 4, 2001
This review is from: I Finally Found Someone (Audio CD)
I Finally Found Someone is the first duet album from the newly married Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw. While Morgan's voice has often been compared to Tammy Wynette's and Kershaw's to George Jones, their music eschews the traditional country approach taken by that legendary duo.

Adult-contemporary ballads like the Barbra Streisand/Bryan Adams title cut dominate the duet lineup. They're somewhat bland and Kershaw distinctive growl often gets lost amid the supersweet harmonies. Much better are the up-tempo novelty numbers: lead-off single "He Drinks Tequila (And She Talks Dirty In Spanish)" which creates a festive mood by putting a raunchy lyric to a Spanish beat, and the rip-roaring "3 Seconds" which takes a delightfully loopy look at infidelity.

Besides the six duets, I Finally Found Someone includes three solo recordings each by Morgan and Kershaw. Here, their softer side is most effective, with Morgan offering a touching reading of her composition "I Must Be Getting Older" and Kershaw shining brightest on a stripped-down version of the Louis Armstrong classic "What A Wonderful World" (Kershaw's own "Sugar" - a spunky toe-tapper - has its moments as well).

I Finally Found Someone is a good - although uneven - first effort for Morgan and Kershaw. The potential is there for some great music in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sammy songs once again, April 24, 2001

Sammy Kershaw is once again brilliant on this album, Lorrie Morgan compliments Sammy Kershaw's voice nicely. Wondering why Sammy got second billing on this album, he vocally by far is carrying this album.

"I Can't Think Of Anything But you" and "Be my Reason" are very sweet love songs. Tears will come to your eyes by the beautiful sound of Sammy's voice on "What a Wonderful Live", it by far to date is one of the best version of this song done yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Duets/Solo, June 1, 2001
This review is from: I Finally Found Someone (Audio CD)
I Finally Found Someone, the much anticipated album from Sammy Kershaw and Lorrie Morgan, featuring 6 duets, and 3 solo songs from each artist. The album is pleasant to listen to, quite romantic. The title track is a cover of the 1996 mega hit for Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams, while Kershaw and Morgan have done a decent job at this song, in no way it matches the emotional passion and deliverance you can feel from the original song (which is no complaint, in most cases the original is much better than the cover version). The album is great to listen to, to hear these two talented individuals sing together, obviously so much in love, which they can now profess to each other openly. Its too bad Morgan is without a contract, she has by far one of the most individual, most distinctive voices in country music today. The album overall is very nice and a good collection of material. A must for the true romantic.
