midnight accounting help,

This review is from: Financial and Accounting Guide for Not-for-Profit Organizations (Wiley Nonprofit Law, Finance and Management Series) (Hardcover)
Sometimes you may be serving on the board of a nonprofit group and discover that your funder requires GAAP. Well what is that. This book will help you understand the nonprofit world of accounting. This work has been a resource that I have turned to at midnight myself aand have recommended many times. At times it is a little technical. But it helps to use some "accounting" language in the next board or committee meeting that you will be discussing budgets or finalcial presentatons. Also, I have used this as a guideline when I consulted a small group that needed help with internal controls.

It was lucky to find this book. I'm a college student. I am preparing to take a AICPA exam. The library of my college doesn't have enough books about Not-for-Profit Organization accounting. This book gives me friendly and detailed explanations. well, a shortness of this book is a tedious text, such as one color text, no graphic figures. I just worried about objective judgements, because I didn't study other Not-fot-Profit books. Anyway, this book makes me come to Not-for-Profit accounting more closely. I'd like to recommend this book.

I felt this book was basically well written. It at times is a little too technical, but basically is easy to follow. I do find it an invaluable tool for reference information in the not-for-profit industry.

This is a fantastic resource for accountants entering into not-for-profit organizations for the first time or to review further for accountants wanting more clarity in their current management positions. This book covers everything and has excellent sections on accounting and reporting guidelines for the many entity types of not-for-profit organizations. Also has a chapter covering entities on public not-for-profit (GASB). This book truly is worth keeping in the office as a valuable resource.

Wow- I am disappointed,
This review is from: Financial and Accounting Guide for Not-for-Profit Organizations, 2008 Cumulative Supplement (Financial and Accounting Guide for Not for Profit Organizations Cumulative Supplement) (Paperback)
I thought that this was a "real" book, but it is not. It is about updating another book. There is nothing cummulative about it. It is a list of updates by chapter.
I am returning the book. It is useless if you don't have the book this supplement is about.

I have to admit to not reading the fine print and expecting a consolidated new edition, not just a supplement (at a premium price). Luckily I have a complete seventh edition, but it's five years old. You would think they would get around to putting out a new complete edition.
That aside, this is the best concise reference for not-for-profit accounting issues that I've found.

As a reference book, I found this passable. There is good information, but it is tediously written and carelessly organized (some Exhibit references in the text are incorrect). As a class textbook (which it was for me) I found it redundant and frustrating.
