4.0 out of 5 stars A Helpful Tool
This book provides clear, easy to follow methods for managing your finances. Also, the templates provided on the CD-ROM are very helpful. For someone who hates dealing with numbers, this book simplifies the process of organizing my records and getting the most from the money I earn. Great cartoons at the beginning of each chapter!

This book was published in 1999 - I wish I'd noticed this before shelling out $[....] - and most of the information and forms contained in the book are hopelessly out of date. To the best of my knowledge - I've searched - there has been no updated version of this book released, so all the information contained within is 11 years old!

The book is basically split into 2 parts; pages 1-123 is the book itself; pages 124-234 are every tax form you will ever need - if you were filing your taxes in 1999! I've checked, and most - if not all - of the tax forms are out of date. Much of the information - tax thresholds etc - are also from last century!

I think charging $[...] for a book that is basically useless is disgraceful.

Because the book is so old it's impossible to know what is still relevant and what isn't. To learn anything from this book you would probably have to take it to an entertainment lawyer and get their advice on what parts of the book you can still use and what parts you can't - in which case you wouldn't need the book to start with!

A complete waste of time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs to be revised, May 15, 2005

I wish I had looked at the pub date more carefully before ordering this book. FMFM hasn't been revised, so all of the forms are outdated and therefore, useless. Some of the info is helpful, but who needs information that 6 years old?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for everyone, July 13, 2000

This review is from: Financial Management for Musicians (Paperback)
So many times accounting and finance are terribly hard things for musicians to handle. This book makes it easy to learn and put into practice. I work with artist management and recommend this book to all of my management clients - even if they're not handling their own finances, they need to understand how everything works.
