"It is not often that I can pick up a book with clear, spiritual content and know that its author is from my generation - GenX - the generation that was supposed to be without direction and purpose. Here in 2005, I can pick up The Financial Pilgrimage and be reminded of the simplicity of that ancient Gospel that should be the center of my every decision, from complex desires to finances. The Christ in The Financial Pilgrimage is easy to find, and as a Catholic writer, I give Sean many more than five stars for NOT promising another 'you deserve to prosper' book. The Financial Pilgrimage is a keeper for the family bookshelf and I intend to pass it on to everyone I meet".

If you're just transitioning into financial independence as a young adult or if you've made a mess of your financial life, then this book really would be a necessary addition to your library. This may be the author's first book, but Mitchell is no rookie at pondering the personal and spiritual context that surrounds and undergirds the subject of money, vocation and finance. Before diving into more narrow books of the self-help nature, soak in this one. It will provide you with the roots and wings needed for living a truly fulfilling life with eternal ramifications--for your benefit, for the betterment of others and for the glory of your Creator.

This book doesn't claim to have all the anwers about how to get rich or avoid financial hard times. It's more about trusting God to work all things out for the good. We need more books like that, not books offering canned formulas and easy answers. The author writes with compassion and honesty as he relates his own financial pilgrimage and as he offers a real formula we can all really use..."Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." This book will make you question your motives, your plans, and your strategies. Then you have to honestly evaluate this in the light of God's revealed will. Prepare to do some serious evulating and praying after reading this book!!
