5.0 out of 5 stars Should be required reading to keep on living!!!
This book is second to none in the area of personal development/life success. I have read the "classics" in this area from authors such as Napolean Hill, Dale Carnegie, Og Mandino, Earl Nightingale, and Norman Vincent Peale to the leaders of today such as Anthony Robbins, Stephen Covey, Zig Ziglar, and Brian Tracy. They are all great but Wallace D. Wattles...

3.0 out of 5 stars Science of Getting Rich
This book is the retitled, Science of Getting Rich, by the same author. Is this the secret? Some good principles along with some bones. Like a good filet of fish, partake of the good, spit out the bones. I don't ask the universe, I ask the God of the Universe.

This review is from: Financial Success: Harnessing the Power of Creative Thought (Paperback)
Wattles has them all beat with this masterpiece. This is not just a way of thought but in actual blueprint for wealth. There are certain laws to acquiring riches and once obeyed and followed getting rich is reduced to an exact science. Do exactly what this book tells you to do and you will get rich with mathematical certainty. Once the word gets out on this book it will go down in history as one of the "classics." I read one chapter every night of my life and I'm now on my 20th reading of this book. Don't even think twice about not getting this book. Read it, learn it, memorize it, live it, and apply it. Best of luck and may an abundant life be yours. "Dr. Harry"

5.0 out of 5 stars A little gem, May 12, 2001
This review is from: Financial Success: Harnessing the Power of Creative Thought (Paperback)
I suspect that this little book has been discovered and rediscovered by every generation since it was written a hundred years ago, and will continue to be rediscovered by every generation for a hundred years to come. It is a little gem. Directing his words purely towards financial success (the book is also published under the title: The Science of Getting Rich), Wallace Wattles teaches lessons that go to the heart of achieving success in any endeavour. But more than this, his words are designed to transform and expand our view of the universe and of life itself. Do not expect any financial advice of the traditional kind from this book. Expect instead an object lesson in the power of thought. Every non-essential ingredient has been pared away to provide for us a succinct and vital summary of required thought and action. The book is short, but that is not to say that it is not repetitious. It is, however, repetitious with a purpose. Wallace Wattles is passionate about instilling his simple principles upon our minds. So every idea is expressed, summarised and then summarised again. He even includes a chapter of test questions at the end so that we might reinforce our own learning. Until I read this book, I had always thought that the expansive and abundant view of the universe had lain dormant until Einstein reopened that level of scientific understanding. This book came before Einstein's theories, and shows that abundance has always been grasped with absolute clarity by a fortunate few. Read this book and re-read it, and you can soon count yourself among that number.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning!, January 6, 2005

This is a really great book and I highly recommend it, but be warned that this is the same book as The Science of Getting Rich. I bought this thinking that I was getting a different book by the author since I was so impressed with the Science of Getting Rich. I didn't mind at all getting a paperback version of this classic which I had previously read in ebook form, so I kept it. Highly recommended along with Napoleon Hills The Think and Grow Rich Action Pack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thinking before judging, July 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Financial Success: Harnessing the Power of Creative Thought (Paperback)
To the previous reviewer, "God doesn't want us to be rich"? So as someone who has the capability of being rich - if you instead choose Not Rich, that'll help the people in poor countries who DON'T have the opportunity you have? Try reading: "God Wants you to be Rich" by Paul Pilzer, he will help explain. As to this book, when the author mentioned that charity will interfere with riches, please read between the lines! Don't sit there on the couch, and tape all of the different savethechildren, christian foundation, etc. commercials that show starving rail-thin kids dragging their belongings and then sit in front of the TV watching that. This is an exaggeration, but what Wattles is trying to say is very simply: What you feed into your mind, you produce. It's the same thing as when you watch Cops reruns: you're just feeding your mind with images of toothless, moral-less people, and this translates to actions that keep you where you're at. Yes, donate to charity (i have money coming out of my Visa automatically to go to SaveTheChildren - i just don't dwell on poor conditions - this won't help my sponsored child!). When you finally arrive with an amount of money that affords the ability to give big-time to the needy, and you no longer have to work, go ahead, spend time helping others. Wattles is simply describing a simple formula in his book, and a component of that formula is that the images you feed in your mind plays into the results that become your outer reality.

5.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLY THE BEST!, November 11, 2003
This review is from: Financial Success: Harnessing the Power of Creative Thought (Paperback)
Although this book was written nearly 100 years ago, it is timeless and it remains the very best book on the topic I've ever read--and believe me, I've read many many business books as well as create-your-own-success books! I recommend this to all my business clients, and have used these techniques myself with great success. It's even better than Think and Grow Rich! I'd LOVE to know about the author's life--so please share any info you may have in a review here. Read this book to not only create success for yourself, but make our country better, too!

4.0 out of 5 stars This Book Is Good If You Want To Learn The Technique Of Visualization., September 25, 2006
This review is from: Financial Success: Harnessing the Power of Creative Thought (Paperback)
I must partly agree with A Reader's June 18, 2000 review. The issue that I too have with some of these books, including the movie, The Secret, is that they focus on material wealth. That which is materialistic is temporary and therefor can never be a permanent source of lasting happiness. Lasting peace comes from within and is eternal. When we die, we take nothing with us, not even our bodies. Alot of these types of teachings drive people further into attachment to things, people, and places, which causes continued suffering. Think about it, if there is something that you want and you let go of needing to have it, and you become detached from needing it and detached from the certain outcome of attaining it, you feel lighter inside. You feel at ease, less needy, less desperate, and less controling. Ahhhh (breathes deeply), that's the point.
However, human beings do live on this physical plane. And they do need to learn the basics of being the creators that they are. However, as good as I think this book is, I think it is misleading. All it teaches is the tool of visualization which is invaluable in itself, but it is not always the solidary road to financial success. This is no doubt a good read, but the subject does need to be taken further by those who genuinely seek the path. Read the book, utilize the tools, but beware of attachment. Attachment makes the world miserable.

It's hard to believe that this book was written in 1910! We are all seeking happiness, illumination, security and truth. This book reveals some of the gifts of life for which we are searching. The author is greatly illumined and brings us the gifts of light through this book and his other books. EXCELLENT!!
