Book Description

July 7, 2010 1452039119 978-1452039114
Politicians and the mass media have taken an amorphous view of the financial woes that our nation faces. Frustrated by the lack of facts and political finger pointing Mike Gearhardt and Will Gates felt compelled to research and write The Financial Tsunami. This book offers insightful discussion on what is driving the United State's annual deficits and the national debt to record and unprecedented levels. The Financial Tsunami delves into why the economic problems that our nation faces today are unlike any other financial crisis in the history of America. The book offers a non-political perspective of the fiscal irresponsibility that our country has experienced for the last 40 years. The interrelationships of spending and taxation, is detailed and presented in clear and understandable terms. The book exposes the fallacy in ignoring the $5 trillion intergovernmental debt. The authors detail how intergovernmental debt will become public debt and how it will worsen an already fragile economy. The options that many are advocating to solve our economic problems simply are not feasible and the authors clarify why. How do we survive the tsunami? Mike Gearhardt and Will Gates have developed a well thought out plan to lead our nation toward fiscal responsibility. If there is one book you want to read to understand the economic woes of our nation and what can be done, this is the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Could not put it down, December 28, 2010

Easy to read. You hear about this stuff in pieces and it is confusing. They make it out be very simple to understand with short chapters. After reading it I bought 3 more copies to give out at Christmas to my best friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thoughtful call against the out of control debt, December 4, 2010
America seems to be in a rockier financial situation than ever. "The Financial Tsunami: Will it Drown Us in a Wave of Debt?" is a call to action from Mike Gearhardt and Will Gates as they express their anger with the federal government for failing to control the national debt and states that America has the power to do something about the poor management in Washington. A thoughtful call against the out of control debt, "The Financial Tsunami" is a worthwhile read for any angered with government financial failings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Depiction of U.S. Financial Crisis, October 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Having worked with co-author Mike Gearhardt for many years, I always appreciated and respected his financial and organizational insights. These insights are evident throughout this short yet powerful book which is truly a "must read."

The book supports the common business mantra that "people perform to how they are measured" as explained in the on-budget/off-budget discussions. Every U.S. citizen must become better informed which requires placing less confidence in the distorted messages of politicians and the media while looking deeper into the financial reality of our nation.

As noted by the authors, our nation's debt crisis is not so much a partisan issue (i.e. everyone is guilty) as it is one of fiscal responsibility, or lack thereof. We can't keep spending more than budgets allow.

The bottom line is if you are not screaming mad after reading this book then you must not be a tax paying citizen concerned about the future of our country.
