A Book with a Different Format, February 9, 2010
This review is from: SAP ERP Financials and FICO Handbook (The Jones and Bartlett Publishers Sap Book Series) (Hardcover)
This book has a very interesting and unique format. The first two chapters, covering a third of the book consist of questions and answers. The first chapter has questions of a general nature, i.e. What is the SAP implementation roadmap and what steps are involved in it? The second chapter is more specific, i.e. Where do you define the length of the general ledger (G/L) account numbers?
As you can see, these are not questions for the complete beginner, nor are they what an accomplished expert would need. This, to me, makes the book ideal for the advanced beginner or intermediate level user who needs to have a more complete level of understanding. By picking these questions, the author makes sure that the reader gets an overall understanding of the subject matter.
After the first two chapters, the book turns into a king of general reference book on the FICO (FInancial accounting and COntroling) package. As the title says, it's a handbook. I like this approach and would like to see it applied to some other software packages.

Excellent Book, March 6, 2010
This review is from: SAP ERP Financials and FICO Handbook (The Jones and Bartlett Publishers Sap Book Series) (Hardcover)
First of All, The Awesome Book is worth buying as its contents cover all the important aspects of FICO.Second, the most important thing about this book is the way SAP ERP Financials and SAP R/3 is described here. The book clearly articulates all the configuration steps required for FI and CO modules for an enterprise. The author lucidly describes the functions of SAP Fico terminology and their practical solutions in an efficient and effective manner.
It provides you some basic insights about configuration steps, transaction codes, issues and resolutions and special areas etc.The book is comprehensive like you will get all the information about SAP FICO that you want.
What really struck me so fantastic about the book was that the book started with
Interview questions and answers which will be tremendously useful to persons who are putting their efforts to spell success in job market.
I can relate this book as higher as compare to other books written on same subject and will recommend everybody to buy this book either you are beginner or advanced learner in SAP FICO.

Technical reference only, poor English, October 18, 2011
This review is from: SAP ERP Financials and FICO Handbook (The Jones and Bartlett Publishers Sap Book Series) (Hardcover)
I was surprised by the poor English in the book and lame accounting 101 (BS and PL said as being run at a given point in time).
I do not recommend this book as an overview of the SAP/FICO, which was my goal.
