Disappointed that the new version added words!,

If you were lucky enough to purchase this and the other books of this very unique children's series before 2000, then you got the version without words. I found this endearing because the books characters and the action taken by the little one reading the book needed no words to prompt him or her. Unfortunately the new version has words to accompany the pictures and kind of ruins it for me. Instead of "Find the Duck" it should be called "Your Mommy will read the words and tell you where the duck is!" And they also changed the size of the book (its now bigger and too heavy for the 2-4 age range of the book) and added color backgrounds to the covers. I still think the series makes a good gift.

A wordless little board book that is perfect for a toddler.,

This small book is part of a group of Find the Animal books. Our 16 month old really enjoyed Find the Kitten, so we bought several others in the series. The books are so well-make and inexpensive that they are really quite bargains. This one is especially appropriate for toddlers who can't talk much but love to point when a parent says, "Where IS that duck, anyway?" It is really nice if your little one has a yellow rubber duck. (Is there a toddler who doesn't?)

This book is perfect for reading to babies and toddlers! The pictures are vivid and eye-catching, and the text is very short, which is very good for those ultra-short attention spans!! Since I've heard so often that reading to babies is extremely beneficial, I started reading this book (and a few others) to my son every night when he was about 2 months old. I always read the text and also point out the duck on every page. It very quickly became his favorite, as he expressed by smiling and laughing when I brought it out. Well, now my son is almost 9 months old and when I read it to him today, he pointed to the duck on one of the pages and said, "du!" I think this book has definately made an impression! I would whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun book for their little one. :-)

Great little book for little people,

With very few words (and those rhyme!), it is great fun to read to a toddler! My twenty month-old is very excited to point and find "Duckie" when I ask him on each page. Plus the bath theme is a big winner, what toddler doesn't like to splash in the tub? AND it's always a good thing to include a subtle potty reference... HIGHLY recommend it, simple and entertaining. What accomplishment a toddler feels when s/he can "find the duck."

New version is great,
This review is from: Find the Duck (Find It) (Board book)
This is a more sturdy version than the previous version. Adding words is great. And it doesn't mean that you have to read the words when going through this book. We have all adlibbed, haven't we? It can be just a search book or a read to them book. Use it any way you want. It's great. It's bright, colorful, and holds up to baby's use. There are so many things to talk in this book. A great feature for special needs children is the duck on each page for them to find. Small steps learning.

Duck Mania,

"Find the Duck" is a very cute board book targeting the very young who are just beginning to explore the world of pictures and hidden objects. Each page of the book features a yellow duck (like many of the Usborne series books) hidden somewhere on the page. My 13 month old is in love with ducks and this book immediately became his favorite after just one reading. He brings it to me repeatedly and smiles with such victory upon finding each duck. This book is just right to hold a toddler's attention. It does not have too many words and the illustrations are simple but cute. I would definitely recommend this as a great book to perk the literary interest and fascination of little ones.

All 3 of our kids love this series. It is a fun way to make reading more interactive. Our kids found these interesting from about 9 months until even 3 years of age.

Bought this book on a whim, and my daughter LOVES it!,

I bought this book just to have one more for the promotion, and wasn't sure if my daughter would like it. I thought she might be too young to "find" the duck, but I was wrong! At 21 months, she gleefully points to the duck every time I turn the page, and proudly exclaims "Ducky!"
We have read this book with and without words. Either way, she loves it, though I think she prefers hearing the "story" that goes along with finding the duck. We will definitely be purchasing more of this series.

Why have words?,
This review is from: Find the Duck (Find It) (Board book)
This is a great book! My daughter loves it, as do I.
The only part that bugs me are the words. They say the duck has a beak, but don't ducks have bills? I would rather not read the words at all and just have fun looking at the pictures with my daughter.

This book is adorable, and my 8 1/2 mo. daughter loves it. The duck isn't too hard to find for young ones, the illustrations are really cute, and my favorite part is the baby looks just like my baby, down to the mop of curly hair and pudgy face. I'm definitely going to check out the other books in this series. Great choice for your little reader.
