PreSchool-Grade 2–Cheese graters wearing grins? A cookie cutter with a surprised look and a large red clown nose? How about a shoe heel with round eyes and a smiley mouth? These and other unexpected and unique objects are showcased in a fun book that demonstrates that faces can be found anywhere if you look hard enough. Some of them are easy to see, such as one made with pruning shears, with the blades forming the mouth and a grommet for the eye. Other examples take a little more imagination but are quite satisfying once the features are discerned. Many items will be unfamiliar to children, but inquisitive kids will find the name of the object in small upside-down print in the corner of each photograph. The text is minimal, giving readers ideas of different places to look in their world: "We're black/and white/and can turn on the light./Need to find a friendly face?/Look around, we're everyplace!" The photographs are clear and bright, and set against boldly colored backgrounds. Youngsters will never again look at a light switch in the same way.
