You Can Find Your Soulmate
We all know the shortcomings of the dating-and-mating game. It is a frustrating ritual that few of us have the time or patience for anymore: the fear of rejection; the jerks; the awkward, artificial conversations; that sinking, “what-was-I-thinking” feeling afterward.
Now there is a better way! In this groundbreaking book, Ben Dominitz shows you how to take control of your romantic destiny. You’ll learn how to plan an exciting and highly effective campaign that will lead you straight to the love of your life.
You’ll discover:
·Why you should forget about chance encounters, singles bars, and parties as a way to meet your mate
·An incredibly effective alternative to the dreaded first date
·How to overcome men’s fear of intimacy—a must-read section for both men and women
·How you can use an old-fashioned idea to meet an unlimited number of available men or women
·Seven steps to greater intimacy in a new relationship
·And much, much, more!
This book is to singles as What Color is Your Parachute? is to job hunters.
“Finally, there is a book that offers genuine help. It’s both compelling and highly effective. . . . I recommend it enthusiastically to anyone in search of long-lasting love.”
—Alan Loy McGinnis, Ph.D., author of The Friendship Factor

5.0 out of 5 stars An approach that is clear and makes sense, March 1, 2000
By
This review is from: How to Find the Love of Your Life: A Step-by-Step Program That Really Works (Paperback)
Domininz offers a step-by-step approach to finding love that does not skip the important steps: knowing yourself, knowing what kind of person you want, and knowing that you are ready to give and receive love. He has guidelines to follow for each step. He also reminds us that meeting people takes effort, that you shouldn't keep your interest and availability a secret in your community, and that half-way measures get in the way of finding real love (e.g., dragging out that old not-right relationship for months and years while you hope Mr. or Ms. Right will show up at your door when you're not looking). I highly recommend this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a universal approach, January 11, 2005
By
This review is from: How to Find the Love of Your Life: A Step-by-Step Program That Really Works (Paperback)
The approach offered by this book, which is to get out and network yourself to friends of friends through meetings and lunches isn't going to work for everyone. First of all, I found the book quite heterosexist. The book's suggestion of advertising your availability to everyone you know is problematic if you're a closeted homosexual. As a bisexual I found the idea of advertising my ability to friends of friends (of friends, etc.) who were strangers to me and outing myself with no idea of their beliefs about bisexuals and the possible hostile reaction that could provoke quite unreasonable.

But the sort of person who is just shy or quirky and not as universally appealling as a smiley, outgoing type isn't going to do well with this campaigning approach without a personality change. It's similar to the networking approach of job hunting. It works well for people when it suits their personality. It also works well when you can put on your "game face" and get to work selling yourself to a prospective employer or partner. But at the end of a work day, you can go home and take off your game face. You're supposed to go home to the love of your life. I found that more organic approaches to meeting people suited my personality, like meeting people at places where I get to know them over a period of time and develop common interests.
