A blind woman is found murdered in a small countryside town. Three unconnected witnesses swear that they saw a woman in a blue dress flee the scene minutes before the body was found. In addition, enquiries reveal that a picture of the missing woman—whose likeness was painted 60 years earlier—is discovered in the house of an acquaintance of the victim.
