Editorial Reviews

Huge 22 track album of energetic hip-hop, funk n’ soul, & downtempo from head turning MC & Producer Ohmega Watts. A debut album that has garnered a huge buzz from his 2 previous sold-out singles, already drawing comparisons to the impact Little Brother's debut caused on the underground scene. Offering both quantity and quality The Find is 22 tracks deep and jumps from laid-back hip-hop stylings to party rockin bangers. Inspired as much by hip-hop legends like Eric B & Rakim and DJ Premier as contemporary electronic producers like RJD2 and The Herbaliser, The Find pushes industry-standard boundaries. Hailing from Flatbush, Brooklyn, brought-up by Jamaican parents Milton Campbell aka Ohmega Watts moved to Florida and now resides amidst a bustling Portland, Oregon scene along w/ the likes of Quannum’s The Lifesavas, Lightheaded, and countless others.

4.0 out of 5 stars big things ahead for milton, December 8, 2005
This review is from: Find (Audio CD)
sure he cut his teeth with solid representation as 1/3 of the crew known as Lightheaded on their excellent first release 'Pure Thoughts' as well as contributing to Acts 29 slept on and suitably titled 'Under Exposed', so it's not like he's new to the game, but still Ohmega Watts DEFINITELY saved his best work to date for his maiden solo voyage, 'The Find'. Many will compare his work behind the boards to that of Pete Rock, and I would agree this album conjures up fond memories of Pete as well as The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest. Ohmega definitely holds his own on the mic as well, and enlists the help of some up and comers such as fellow Lightheaded members Braille and Othello, as well as Adam L, who absolutely KILLS 'You Are Now Tuned In'-one of the best offerings on the album. Other favorites of mines include the soulful 'Mind Power' and 'Long Ago'. Ohmega Watts obviously was influenced by hip-hop when it was at it's best, from about '88-'93, and those who agree with that statement will without a doubt want to cop this album, and keep a keen eye peeled for what this kid named Milton is going to do going forward. The future is bright.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really sharp stuff, October 25, 2005

[...] That means I don't know how much Stro the 89th Key was involved in the production. But the song (the title cut) he's on is great, and I bet he influenced a lot of the other songs, if he didn't produce them entirely.

The beats are tight, and the lyrics are right on target. There ain't much pimpin' or bitch slappin', but that's part of the beauty of the album. Indeed, "Mind Power" points out the hazards of such activities. The track reminds me of Us 3's "Knowledge of Self."

I would say that it's not the out-of-this-world experience that I was hoping it would be, but it's definitely a solid album. I feel comfortable recommending it to my hip-hop connoisseur friends, even though I'm not one myself.

Ohmega, oh make another album!

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars from another new school MC, October 20, 2005

O.Watts is really killin it with the flow & lyrics. i dig the lyrics that make you feel ... its all about reminiscing & reflecting on childhood, blessings, family, struggles, etc. given the lyrical content, the beats are the perfect match ... mellow 70s-type "Cooley High" vibe to beats.

i only deduct half a star b/c some of the guest MCs are wack. i would describe this CD as Common rapping over an album of Pete Rock beats.
