big things ahead for milton,
This review is from: Find (Audio CD)
sure he cut his teeth with solid representation as 1/3 of the crew known as Lightheaded on their excellent first release 'Pure Thoughts' as well as contributing to Acts 29 slept on and suitably titled 'Under Exposed', so it's not like he's new to the game, but still Ohmega Watts DEFINITELY saved his best work to date for his maiden solo voyage, 'The Find'. Many will compare his work behind the boards to that of Pete Rock, and I would agree this album conjures up fond memories of Pete as well as The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest. Ohmega definitely holds his own on the mic as well, and enlists the help of some up and comers such as fellow Lightheaded members Braille and Othello, as well as Adam L, who absolutely KILLS 'You Are Now Tuned In'-one of the best offerings on the album. Other favorites of mines include the soulful 'Mind Power' and 'Long Ago'. Ohmega Watts obviously was influenced by hip-hop when it was at it's best, from about '88-'93, and those who agree with that statement will without a doubt want to cop this album, and keep a keen eye peeled for what this kid named Milton is going to do going forward. The future is bright.

[...] That means I don't know how much Stro the 89th Key was involved in the production. But the song (the title cut) he's on is great, and I bet he influenced a lot of the other songs, if he didn't produce them entirely.
The beats are tight, and the lyrics are right on target. There ain't much pimpin' or bitch slappin', but that's part of the beauty of the album. Indeed, "Mind Power" points out the hazards of such activities. The track reminds me of Us 3's "Knowledge of Self." I would say that it's not the out-of-this-world experience that I was hoping it would be, but it's definitely a solid album. I feel comfortable recommending it to my hip-hop connoisseur friends, even though I'm not one myself. Ohmega, oh make another album!

O.Watts is really killin it with the flow & lyrics. i dig the lyrics that make you feel ... its all about reminiscing & reflecting on childhood, blessings, family, struggles, etc. given the lyrical content, the beats are the perfect match ... mellow 70s-type "Cooley High" vibe to beats.
i only deduct half a star b/c some of the guest MCs are wack. i would describe this CD as Common rapping over an album of Pete Rock beats.

Wow, I finally found something I enjoy throughout all the tracks! Definitely a great 'find'. Besides the mostly up-beat tempo instrumentals, the overall messages portrayed in the lyrics gives this CD something that most rappers these days lack- TRUTH! I listen to this CD almost daily, definitely a 'pick me up' in the late afternoon, and my husband (who's a breakdancer and very picky about music) also likes this CD. Thanks for the find.

Great sound, great vibe, great lyrics. It's hard to find 'Christian' hip-hop that meets all of the criteria but this does and it's different enough from my favorites (Cross Movement, LaCrae) to give me some variety. I am praying that this genre of music gets bigger and bigger and rather than blowing up slowly eclipses what the world thinks hip-hop is...

It is so satisfying to stumble upon an artist, take a chance and buy the album, and find something as good as this. My first thought when hearing this album was who the heck is Ohmega Watts and why haven't I heard of him before. Production wise you can tell a lot of time and care was put into this project. The rhymes are on point too. Ohmega really lets his jazzy, soulful beats go on once he's done rhyming on each track. It gives the album a more connected feel to it from each song to the next. Even people that don't solely listen to hip-hop can enjoy this album. Highly recommended.

This CD has truly exceptional hip hop production, start to finish. I can't explain how rare an album like this is. if you've ever used an mpc, sb, or sampled anything at all, you owe it to yourself to listen to this.

Smooth jazzy beats, clever lyricism, relevant subject matter, talented featured guest emcees, and positive, Christ centered rhymes. What more could you ask for?

Ohmega Watts dropped a classic! From beginnning to end this is quality and quantity. There is not one bad track on this! A few interludes which are short. Great beats and this cat can rhyme too! I bought this joint not knowing what I was going to get and I was pleasantly surprised! To all those that sleep....WAKE UP!!! Anyone that's a fan of Pete Rock or DJ Premier or good music in general needs to cop this now! PEACE
